Two Texas A&M players arrested after win over Kentucky

College Station was rocking after Texas A&M’s win over Kentucky Saturday night and two Texas A&M players celebrated to the point they got caught. Texas A&M freshman guards J.J. Caldwell and Jay Jay Chandler were arrested early Sunday on charges of marijuana possession (less than two ounces), and, in Caldwell’s case, speeding. As a result, Caldwell has been dismissed from team, while Chandler is suspended indefinitely.

Caldwell averaged 3.0 points and 2.5 assists per game and started five games for the Aggies this season. This is far from his first offense. After sitting out last season due to academics, Caldwell was arrested for a DUI in May and has been suspended multiple times for violating team rules. Chandler has started four games and is averaging four points per game.

U know what we have NOT had at Kentucky since Cal got there? Reports like this. Willie was 21 and NOT driving and that’s the most trouble I recall one of our players getting into. No fake classes. No sex scandals. No one tossed from the team for this kind of thing. Oh and no boosters paying players like Roy’s last year at Kansas. We aren’t perfect but we have a lot to be proud of in addition to wins and losses and a look at our guys in the NBA shows u good citizens, who learned that in part under our coaching staff.

Absolutely true! I think the same thing every time one of these stories breaks.

I agree completely. While I’d love more wins this season or banners from prior years…. or players who stay 2-3 years and build a longer bond with the fans… I can’t fault the character of our players. Cal has been first class when it comes to character

I think you forgot about the Derek Willis arrest

No – I pointed out he was 21 and not driving according to the police report. Not smart, but find me a college kid that didn’t drink til they passed out at least once. And that’s the “worst” report. As Senator Alan Simpson used to say, when he was in college he thought beer was food.

Actually bro Cal’s first year that guard……. ugh I really don’t wanna look his name up…… was caught with Mary J and was dismissed. He went and finished up at a Mississippi school, not Ole or St. He’s the only one I know of though

….not any REPORTS (wink) of use at UK….let’s not be naive, there ARE discussions about past and present….but true…no reported arrests, which is a good thing.
