Troy Gentry of Montgomery Gentry killed in helicopter crash

We have some very sad news this afternoon as Troy Gentry, one-half of the popular country music group Montgomery Gentry, was killed in a helicopter crash Friday, along with one other person.

The accident happened around noon at Flying W Airport in Medford, New Jersey, per LEX 18 in Lexington. Eddie Montgomery was not on board.

The duo was set to play at Flying W Airport & Resort at 5:00 pm today.

Gentry, 50, was a Lexington native and the father of two children.

I’m not a big country fan but I did like “My Town”. Regardless, sad news for a fellow Kentuckian for sure.

Sad. Saw them before the Auburn game 2 years ago outside Commonwealth. Will never forget how fun the atmosphere was for that game and it started with Montgomery Gentry pre-game.
