Today on KSR: Merry Christmas Eve

Merry Christmas Eve, a.k.a. my favorite day of the year. Most prefer Christmas Day, but once the morning winds down, so does the fun.  Christmas Eve is the culmination of weeks of excitement, reaching a crescendo with a rowdy family get-together.

Some prefer to be a Scrooge or a Grinch on the Night Before Christmas; not my pups.  Not all dogs enjoy the holiday season as much as my sweater-clad crew.

If you need to get your furry friends and family into the holiday spirit, I have a feeling this carefully curated Christmas playlist will do the trick.

Another Award

Underneath Rhyne Howard’s Christmas tree is an SEC Freshman of the Week honor.  It’s the fourth time the UK women’s basketball sharpshooter has received the award this season.  Averaging a team-high 18.5 points per game, she’s only the second player in program history to be named SEC Freshman of the Week four times, and the first to do it before the start of conference play.

A New Top 25

If Jon Rothstein had it his way, the Cats would be lucky to make the list.  However, it’s more likely they’ll move up four or five spots to about No. 15, give or take.  Keep an eye out for the new rankings around 1:00.

A New Aaron Torres Sports Podcast

The podcast that is sweeping America could not take any extra time off after Kentucky’s victory over North Carolina.  In a holiday edition of the podcast, Torres and Nick Coffey break down Kentucky’s breakthrough performance and react to a wild weekend of college basketball.  Enjoy the dulcet tones between yuletide celebrations when the episode goes live. (I have a feeling it won’t be the only KSR podcast surprise this morning.)

No New KSR

Matt Jones, Ryan Lemond, Drew Franklin and Shannon the Dude are taking a brief break from the radio waves to enjoy the holiday with their families. If you still need to get your Kentucky basketball fix, there are a few options.

You can listen to the podcast of the KSR Postgame Show from Saturday night, or you can relive all of the best moments with the help of KyWildcatsTV.

Thanks, Benny

I leave you with Benny Snell’s gifts to the Big Blue Nation.

I don’t post or read post after a ball game . I just wanted to say that i said Ky wasn’t tough enough to beat N.C., I’m so glad i don’t know anything about Basketball. MERRY CHRISTMAS.

It’s all good, I’m sure very few of us could honestly claim that we expected to win that game before Saturday. Crow is delicious when you eat it while watching the replay of a good UNC beating!

I didn’t feel good going into the game but I knew if they played the way they was capable we could. I was giving us about 30% chance.

That probably about sums up my feelings going in.

No new show today? I want to talk about beating UNCheat! Lazy good for nothings.

Haha. Just kidding on that last part, but I was hoping for a live show. I couldn’t remember what Matt said last week about the schedule.

Merry Christmas KSR staff & all of the BBN!!!

I think this is the de facto No Show Thread. Yeah, we need to be able to crow about beating UNCheat.

I’m off work through Jan. 2 and about to start wrapping some presents. I’m off 2 weeks total. One of the advantages of working for a university!

I suppose crowing can wait until Wednesday. I might have to re-listen to the post game. I forgot to record the game. 🙁

I might have to see if it’s archived on ESPN Watch if I have time.

And my favorite phrase to be redundant with today is apparently “I might have to…”.

I have to say: I couldn’t do any better, but those were pretty lame Stone Cold impersonations. However, kudos to those guys for having the guts to do it.

      Two thumbs up!!!

A quick word about today’s repeat of the show after we beat Florida: Matt just said that there may never be another regular season win as satisfying as this one. However, I kind of found the Miss. State win more satisfying, and here’s why. ALL week long, on local shows, on national shows, on SEC oriented shows, AAAAAAAAALL I heard was (paraphrasing) “Ohhhhhh, Miss. State is the most physical team of aaaaaaaaaall time! Kentucky can’t compete with that!” Then, we just physically beat the ever-loving crap out of them! Then Benny smiling and yelling at the camera topped it all off. It was awesome!!!

I was at that game, and that moment when Benny looked right into the camera during a timeout was just awesome!

And almost the entire MSU defense switching out when they saw Benny coming. Spectacular.

    3. ClutchCargo

And then running over the new guys for a TD anyway! lol

Nick, you REALLY need to add Cheech and Chong’s “Santa Claus and His Old Lady” to your playlist. It’s a classic!
