Today on KSR: College Football and More

Good morning friends. Yesterday was a crazy day in the sports world, with “championship day” in college football being the main headline. We’ve got a few other things for you too, though. So, get that coffee or tea (I’m currently drinking tea because winter sickness) and sit back, relax, and let me do the work for ya.

Championship Saturday recap

In the SEC – Georgia got their revenge and demolished Auburn 28-7. This is a HUGE win for UGA, a program who in recent years has been hyped up so much only to choke in the end. Not this year.

ACC – Wanna talk about demolishing? Check the Clemson-Miami score. I’d been looking forward to this great game for weeks, but it was just a bloodbath. Clemson ran over Miami 38-3. Even the Clemson band got in on the trolling

The U is back no more, I guess.

BIG 10 – Ohio State vs Wisconsin was another game I had high hopes for, and it delivered. Selfishly, I wanted Ohio State to win and take away Wisconsin’s magical undefeated season like a certain Wisconsin sports team did to a certain Kentucky team a few years ago. Did it take away the pain of that loss? Not really, but Ohio State’s 27-21 victory DID help. Also, it was entertaining. Midway through the fourth quarter, the game stopped due to the end-zone turf being out of line. Then this happened:

Congrats turf repair guy, you’ve gone viral!

The most entertaining game: Memphis

Over in the AAC, Memphis and UCF played a heck of a game. UCF won 62-55 to remain undefeated, but that’s not the exciting part. This game went into double overtime and had some HUGE plays. Here’s an example:

Also, right after winning the game Scott Frost, the UCF head coach made an announcement saying he’s going to coach Nebraska. As a player, would you still be in the mood to celebrate after that? I’d be torn.

We find out UK Football’s bowl destination

Plenty of reports point towards the Music City perhaps with a match up with Iowa. But we will find out officially later today. Stick with KSR for a full release as we find out UK’s bowl destination.

In non-football news, Kentucky Volleyball

Moving on to some non-football news, Kentucky Volleyball is really good, like really good. ICYMI: yesterday, the Cats had a scare against WKU, but won 3-2. They’ve now won three straight and advance to the round of 16 against BYU next weekend in Memorial. BBN, show up next weekend and support these Cats! Tickets available here.

Lonzo can’t escape the Cats

Last night, Jamal Murray dribbled his way around Lonzo Ball and Julius Randle didn’t like it. At all.

Denver beat the Lakers 115-100 and our Jamal Murray put up 28 points. Ugh, I miss him and his bow and arrow.

Coach Cal has reached peak Dad.

Between the dabbing and the jeans, I didn’t think Coach Cal could get anymore dad-like. I was wrong. Our head basketball coach has figured out how to use bitmoji’s and it’s everything I could’ve hoped for.

No, Cal, we didn’t forget.

Tyler Herro makes a game winner.

Future Cat Tyler Herro made a huge game winning shot and an impressive block last night. Watch for yourself:

I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to have this guy on campus.

UK Hoops plays today!

UK Hoops returns to Memorial this afternoon at 2PM to take on Tennessee Tech. After losing to No 9 Baylor 90-63, the 6-1 Cats are looking to bounce back today.  If you’re looking for something to do this afternoon, here’s your plans. I’ll be there covering the game for this great website and live tweeting too – so follow along @savannahpattKSR.

That’s all for me until this afternoon. Happy Sunday. Go Cats!

This why UK Football will always struggle. Later today we find out where the Cats will go bowling for 2nd time in 2 years which hasn’t been done in 10 years, and arguably the most most popular UK Sports website on the planet (looking at you KSR) doesn’t even mention it in their rundown of happenings for the day – unless i missed it in the post, and at my age, that is entirely possible. But, come on guys, you’re better than this.
