Thursday Morning Rapid Fire for the UK Fans of the Day

Good morning.  How are you?  Cold?  Yeah, it’s a bit chilly out there this morning. The warm weather was not meant to last, but Sweater Season is here to stay.  Go ahead, grab that wool one in the back of the closet, the one that feels like a hug.  Enjoy that hug, a cup of Joe and a few notes to start your day.

Eddie Gran on the Move?  The two SEC East teams that defeated Kentucky in 2018 could shake up the Mark Stoops’ staff.  Tennessee swiped Georgia offensive coordinator Jim Chaney.  Now Eddie Gran is a candidate for Georgia’s offensive coordinator vacancy.

The Kentucky play-caller is not exactly a fan favorite.  Even if you disagree with him from time-to-time, there’s no denying he’s an excellent running backs coach.  The jury’s out on his ability to develop quarterbacks.  Stephen Johnson improved throughout his tenure, but injuries prevented him from blossoming in 2017.  We could see Terry Wilson take steps forward under Gran in 2019, but if Wilson has to learn a new system under a new coordinator, the development process will be delayed.

Benny Time — Tomorrow’s the big day at KSBar and Grille.  To mitigate your wait, beginning today at 11:00 a.m. KSBar will be giving away numbered tickets to reserve your spot in line.  Click here for more details.

A New Football Podcast — Speaking of KSBar, the KSR Football Podcast crew will be there tonight to record our Citrus Bowl celebration.  Join us around 6:00 for a good time, or subscribe, rate and review the podcast from your phone. If you can’t wait that long for a new podcast, Aaron Torres has you covered.

Another Podcast?  Folks, it’s about that time.  The people have been asking for new episodes of Kentucky Thrones Radio.  Now that we have 15 seconds of new material, it feels like the appropriate time to get the band back together.  Don’t be surprised when you get a treat on your podcast feed early next week.

Louisville Lost —  You hate to see it.  The poor Cardinal birds couldn’t even beat Pitt, a team Kevin Stallings spent the last two years trying to destroy.

Sarcasm aside, that was an awful loss.  Pitt had not won an ACC game since January 2017.  A month ago Chris Mack’s team looked destined for an NCAA Tournament bid.  The team that lost by three in overtime to Pitt did not look like an NCAA Tournament team.

A Big Louisville Women’s Game —  The Lady Cards get primetime treatment when the second-ranked team in the country travels to South Bend to play Notre Dame, the No. 1 team in America.  The action begins at 7:00 on ESPN.  Even if they don’t win, Louisville is now officially a women’s basketball school.

Beat Tennessee — Kentucky’s women have a difficult road trip ahead as well.  Matthew Mitchell’s team travels to Knoxville for a matchup between No. 16 and No. 13.  Watch the Cats bounce back from the loss to Miss. State at 7:00 on the SEC Network.

Kyle Murray to the Cardinals —  Don’t believe me?  Kliff Kingsbury announced it three months ago.

What Miss?  It’s been a tough week for Matt Jones and Chicago Bears fans everywhere.  This should help.

I for one would have to lose Eddie Gran. UGA is the next hurdle the program has to climb, so losing him to them right now would be a bitter pill.

Nick, why are you saying Eddie Gran is a candidate for Georgia’s offensive coordinator vacancy? Last I heard, it was just some sportswriter speculating that Gran is a name to watch for that job, but maybe I missed something.

You know it just takes one little seed for KSR to blow it up. Wasn’t it you who made the ‘turd stick to the wall’ comment yesterday? I think it applies here too ha ha

    2. ClutchCargo

Yep, I said that. Point taken.

    3. ClutchCargo

Also, I think “facts are optional” applies here as well.

    4. StillBP

ha I almost said that too. Can count on that phrase to apply to this site daily.

Nick likes to take rumors and run with them. Same reason he writes his articles with the intelligence of a dim witted first grader, it stirs the pot and gets people clicking. Or…the more likely scenario: Nick is a terrible writer and desperately pines to be relevant.

Just like they said Stoops was a candidate for Miami. They fired their coach and hired the new coach hours later, there was never another candidate.

I was thinking that it was implied that Stoops was a candidate for Miami. This flat out states that Gran is a candidate for UGA.
