The Stanford band got busted for trying to sneak in booze inside tubas

I knew these guys were a little different

I knew these guys were a little different

We’re about an hour from tip-off, and Stanford is still leading Kansas, which is making all the Kentucky fans in the house pretty happy. More UK blue continues to trickle into the Scottrade Center, but it still looks like the Shockers will have the majority of the fans.

Even more entertaining than the game may be the behind-the-scenes drama. The Stanford pep band got busted by officials earlier for attempting to sneak in booze inside their tubas. This story cracks me up, and has me rooting for the Cardinal/Tree even more. Also, one of the freight elevators the press uses to get to the press box got stuck earlier, creating a whole other kind of drama.

Everyone is asking about Andrew Harrison’s elbow, and the word is that he still has pain in his elbow, but will warm up and see how it goes. I’m going to head back down there to see if I can get any more information.

Stay tuned, and enjoy this video of the Stanford Tree doing its thing. Looks like he had some of that tuba juice before the man stepped in:

Why does the Stanford band want to look like they work at Fridays?

Go Cats! We used to do this all the time about 10 years ago. You can fit a lot inside a sousaphone! Someone may or may not have made off with a PAT football during a game once…
