The NBA Summer League’s Morning Links

NBA Summer League

The first of two NBA summer leagues kicked off yesterday in Orlando, and a few former Wildcats had impressive showings.  Leading the way for Kentucky was Nerlens Noel, who scored 19 points in his NBA Summer League debut for the 76ers.  Not far behind was Marquis Teague, who scored 14 points and tallied 6 assists for the Brooklyn Nets.  Rounding out the former Wildcats, DeAndre Liggins finished with 7 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 steals for Detroit.

If you’re looking for something to watch later during this Sunday evening, games will continue to tip-off throughout the day in Orlando.  All games are broadcast on NBA TV, so be sure to check out some of your favorite past Wildcats as they hope to earn playing time for the upcoming season.  The following is today’s schedule of former Kentucky players, so tune in if you can:

Memphis Grizzlies vs. Detroit Pistons (DeAndre Liggins) @ 3:00 p.m.

Philadelphia 76ers (Nerlens Noel) vs. Oklahoma City Thunder @ 5:00 p.m.

Miami Heat vs. Brooklyn Nets (Marquis Teague) @ 7:00 p.m.

- Speaking of Noel’s performance yesterday, read what he and others had to say after the game in this article over at ESPN.  To be his first game in about 18 months, he sure didn’t seem to rattled by his injury.

- The city of Detroit seems to be split when it comes to Jodie Meek’s new contract with the Pistons.  Many are skeptical of his off the ball scoring, worried that he may have been overpaid.  Check out some of the reactions within the Motor City here, provided by the Detroit News.

- CBS Sports recently posted an article discussing a few backcourt additions to college programs around the NCAA.  One of which was the addition of Tyler Ullis here at  UK.  They believe he will be able to come in and compete without all the pressure former Calipari guards have faced.  Find out why by clicking here.

- Changing over to football, Kentucky has been hitting homeruns when it comes to recruiting in the state of Ohio.  Stoops and Co. made a it priority from Day 1 to establish a pipeline within the state, and I think its safe to say they have.  In terms of players targeted for the 2015 class, find out who UK is looking at over at 247Sports.  They list the ten most likely recruits from Ohio to sign with UK.

Thanks for the great links! One of my favorite lines from the Tyler Ulis article “the list of point guards that have played for the most powerful coach in the sport goes as follows”.
