Trinity ran away with a 70-28 victory over Johnson Central in the second game of the Whitaker Bank KHSAA Sweet 16.
The Rocks sprinted out to an early 17-point lead, but Johnson Central wasn’t going to give up easily. With three Rec-spec’d players leading the way, the Golden Eagles went on a 12-4 run to cut the Trinity lead to single digits before halftime.
Eventually the Rocks’ pressure was just too much for the Golden Eagles. Trinity outscored Johnson Central 23-6 in the third quarter that featured one highlight after another. The early leader for “Sweet 16’s Top Play” goes to David Johnson. Following a slick behind-the-back move, the future Louisville Cardinal threw down a thunderous dunk in transition.
