Clear some space on the DVR because Thursday night at 9 p.m., Top Chef Kentucky premieres on Bravo.
The 16th season of the reality TV staple filmed in the Bluegrass over the summer and will shine a light on the state’s burgeoning food scene. Most of the episodes are set in Lexington and Louisville, but the show also ventured out to the Bourbon Trail and Lake Cumberland. As we shared over the summer, one challenge was even filmed in Rupp Arena with an assist from John Calipari.
Yesterday, host Padma Lakshmi shared this sneak peek on Twitter:

Last week, the Chicago Tribune published a feature on the season with some behind-the-scenes scoop. As you might expect, bourbon will play a big part, with contestants visiting Maker’s Mark and cooking with the spirit. They’ll also reinvent the Hot Brown and attempt to identify the herbs and spices in KFC’s secret recipe.
As is always the case with TV shows that film in Kentucky, it will be interesting to see how the Bluegrass is portrayed. Top Chef is usually above stereotypes, so hopefully Padma won’t walk out to banjo music with a piece of wheat between her teeth. Just in case, I’ll be tuning in Thursday night. Check the site Friday for my recap.
