N’Faly Dante reportedly ‘very close’ to a decision

After months of speculation, we are reportedly right on the cusp of a decision for 2020 five-star center N’Faly Dante.

According to Tipton Edits, a popular graphic-making outlet with strong connections with recruits, the 6-foot-11 big man is planning on making a college decision “very soon.”

He recently posted the news on his Instagram story:

As I have discussed on Pilgrim’s Insider Notes the last few weeks, the expectation is that Dante will reclassify to the class of 2019 and arrive on a college campus later this month. Sources have told KSR that the elite center has been finishing up his academic requirements for high school graduation, with Dante himself telling me that if he could get things cleared up in time, he would make the jump to 2019. He specified that he has had some online coursework to complete, though there had been other rumblings that he has been waiting on a specific test score to graduate.

In terms of specific schools in contention, Dante told KSR at Peach Jam that he was deciding between Kentucky, Oregon, LSU, Tennessee, and Iowa State, though the Wildcats and Ducks are seen as the strongest contenders.

Oregon currently leads on Dante’s Crystal Ball over at 247Sports with 60% of all predictions, including picks from recruiting experts Andrew Slater and Jerry Meyer.

On Rivals.com, recruiting insider Eric Bossi, who lives in Kansas and is very connected to Dante’s MoKan Elite and Sunrise Christian programs, has a FutureCast pick in favor of Kentucky. Meanwhile, Corey Evans put in a prediction for Oregon back on Friday.

Jack, I e came to trust you more than anyone else on UK recruiting, and I know you don’t want to speculate, but….if you had to guess, and the correct guess gave 1 billion dollars to save puppy and children’s charities, who gets him?

    1. nocode96

      Thanks Jack.

    2. 4everUKblue

      Thanks for the response Jack.

Any time I hear handlers are going to decide and not let the kid I get a cramp in the pit of my stomach that is trying it’s best not to believe money is involved. Doesn’t matter if it’s a kid we’re recruiting or not.

  2. 4everUKblue

There should be only one choice for a smart young man.

  3. DelrayCat

These types of situations are ripe for disaster. Pushing at the last moment to finish classes and make a certain test score indicates this will be close. I am afraid some malfeasance may be creep into this. I don’t know if the risk outweighs the reward. Do we really need another center?

  4. WKY Cat

Holding out as long as they can so those handlers can leverage Oregon for some more cash.

    1. mashburnfan1

You mean outbid UK. Why would they need more cash from Oregon unless UK has beat their offer. You people act like all others pay recruits. All recruiting is dirty by all involved.

    2. nocode96

Go play in traffic you dolt. Why do you keep coming back when literally no one wants you here. I’d like for you to provide us with proof that not only does UK indulge in seedy recruiting, but proof that literally every school does. That’s what you just said, everyone does it, so provide your proof toughnuts. We say other schools do it because, ya know, there’s actual proof they have done such things…you can look it up, it’s what we like to call tangible evidence. For the record, I believe there are plenty of schools that don’t resort to illegal recruiting tactics. I used to pity you, but now I kinda envy you because obviously you’re willfully, and happily ignorant and uninformed and it doesn’t seem to bother you. Too many people like you in this country now…proud to be ignorant and uninformed. Imagine the emptiness in you. You’re the type of person to gas light your children, abuse them, put them down, and then wonder why they never call or come visit as you slowly die a lonely man. It personally makes me happy that Cal is going to be here for a long, long time if for no other reason than I know it eats at you.

    3. 4everUKblue

mashbum you know we don’t pay players, may have happened under another coach but not under Cal. But if you’ve found the smoking gun, bring it forward. Everyone knows Cal is under 24/7 surveillance, they’re just waiting for him to make any slip up no matter how minor. Get a grip on something other than yourself.

    4. Thetruthshallsetbennyfree

It’s because no one wants him here is why he keeps coming back. He gripes about bball as mashedbum and football as woulda been a combatmedic if not for his height, weight, stds that he got from his dad’s used blowup doll, and general lack of diversity in his gene pool.

I think it’s very sad to see a kid’s inner circle push for a certain school when they know the kid himself favors another. The kid should be able to pick the school he wants to go to without having to worry about disappointing everyone around him.

    1. J-Dub421

      Agreed.

I think it’s pretty sad to see a kid’s inner circle push for a certain school when they know the kid favors another. The kid should be able to choose whichever school he wants to go to without having to worry about losing the support of those closest to him.

    1. mashman 93

I agree and they should be ashamed of themselves. It’s his choice and if that’s Oregon so be it but let him choose.

  7. MontyCats

How the hell has the Bol Bol situation not made his handlers realize they can’t play with his future. When top recruits go west they ALWAYS drop in the draft.

    1. runningunnin.454

Yeah, and the majority of U.S. basketball fans won’t see him play…unless they stay up til midnight.

    2. mashburnfan1

Monty…..ALWAYS drop…where did Fultz get drafted and who did he play for. Ayton? Ball? Markkanen? Chriss? Plus Gonzaga has had lottery picks the past few years, kids that coming out of High School were hardly known. In fact prior to this year the top pick in the draft came from the West Coast the prior 2 years. May want to actually know something prior to posting. Naturally there will be more higher picks not for Pacific time zone as there are far more players in the other 3 time zones so the ratio will be stacked against them.

    3. mashburnfan1

And your example is poor, Bol was having a very good start to his season but got badly hurt early and missed the rest of the year. That injury to a big guy will scare teams away as he was already a fragile body.

    4. catsarerunnin

      Dbag

    5. cking

      Mashburn fan..
Your examples are just as poor.
West Coast Basketball is down outside of Gonzaga.
      That’s straight facts.

    6. 4everUKblue

But your argument doesn’t fit mashbum’s agenda cking, he picks and chooses what fits and leaves facts out that don’t fit.

    7. Thetruthshallsetbennyfree

Pitino is Bashburn’s hero, he not only lasted 10 times longer then mashy ever did, he also did it with a real woman. Hey mashy maybe Pithead can hook you up with a certain KP. I mean as nasty as she is now she’d still be way out of your league.

    8. nocode96

I had old socks under my bed in high school that are out of mashinbums league.

  8. UKFanSC

I wish none of our recruits had “handlers”…..makes them sound like snakes!

    1. mashman 93

      Yep

  9. Boro Boy

Regardless of Fultz ,Ball,Ayton and other names whom have been drafted highly in past drafts…the exposure of West Coast kids is limited. Most of these kids if playing on television doesnt occur till 9 PM or later, while kids going to other blue bloods such as UK,UNC,Duke or Kansas get more exposure within ESPN and networks as every UK is televised…so I understand most kids does not let this bear on their decision…UK or Oregon …makes alot of since from this standpoint on where to go ????????
