More potential for Louisville fireworks today

Does a day go by without drama from the University of Louisville? We’ll get two more opportunities for fireworks this afternoon,¬†with Tom Jurich’s attorneys addressing the media at 3:30 p.m. and Rick Pitino going on Terry Meiners’ show at 5:35 p.m. After the scathing termination letter from Greg Postel to Tom Jurich went public yesterday, get your popcorn ready.

Meanwhile, Louisville players Anas Mahmoud and Quentin Snider are up at ACC Media Day, and Mahmoud told reporters practice has been more enjoyable since Pitino left:

“It’s not relief, but Coach P had a really strong personality over everyone,” Mahmoud said. “Not just players, but also coaches and even the university itself. Playing for him was really nice in games, but practice was not fun.”

Never a dull moment.

I was doing cable TV installations in the old Wildcat Lodge the summer before Tubby’s first season, the one that ended with a championship and I was in Jeff Shepherd’s and Scott Padgett’s room. I was asking them if they were getting a ring that season and we talked a little about Rick. They both stated emphatically that they did not miss Rick. Chris Harrison said he hated Rick, he helped him be successful but he hated him. Make of that what you will.

Chris Harrison’s statement came at a different time, not in the Wildcat Lodge.

Former players said they hated Rupp too. So angry after practice they wanted to take it out on the opposing team. As far as I’m concerned the tough practices were RP’s better features.

I think Terry Meiners might be part of the problem at Louisville. He likes stirring things up and his buddy got fired and he can’t let it go.

Meiners gets paid by ratings, this is all about the money. Another money whore. If Meiners was a true friend of Pimpino’s he’d tell Rick he loves him but he needs to stay quiet for a while. Just another money whore.

“Coach P had a really strong personality over everyone”

This is common knowledge, and yet Pitino (and Jurich) would have you believe assistants went behind his back to get recruits for him with strippers and cash.
