Louisville Fans Hire Attorney to Sue NCAA for Title Banner

Louisville fans are taking extreme(ly stupid) measures to keep their beloved 2013 National Championship banner.

Fans created a group, the University of Louisville Protection and Advocacy Coalition (Louisville PAC), and hired attorney Robert Florio to file a lawsuit against the NCAA.  Florio told the Courier-Journal he plans to charge the NCAA with breach of fiduciary duty, unjust enrichment and arbitrary and capricious treatment of a member school.  The Louisville PAC hopes this suit will reverse the NCAA’s decision and remove all penalties.

Rick Pitino said last month the University of Louisville Board of Trustees should sue the NCAA for vacating UofL’s wins.  When the board did not take action, fans did, even though I don’t think that’s how the law works.

I’m always saying Memphis should have found a way to sue, so I can’t laugh too hard at this.

    1. Memphis UK Cat

I agree with you there and LOUISVILLE should do the same

    2. runningunnin.454

Umm, the situations are not exactly the same. I think the ncaa sucks; but, they didn’t tell UL they could have hookers in the dorm.

    3. J-Dub421

Louisville got caught cheating. There is no dispute that they had hooker parties in the dorm paid for by someone on their coaching staff. U of L did not even contest that fact. They have no grounds to sue.

Louisville’s only defense was that they didn’t spend a lot on the hookers. They blamed it all on one guy and tried to duck the fact that their coach and everyone else in the program supposedly knew nothing about it, suggesting failure to monitor at best.

When you find out your team used hookers to recruit, I don’t know how you argue that isn’t a big deal.

All this and they haven’t even started the inevitable NCAA investigation into the pay-for-recruits FBI scandal.

I don’t believe that the UofL PAC has a legal standing in the matter.

You knew something like this was going to happen.

I’m not an attorney and I don’t even play on on tv, but how the hell does this UofL PAC even think it has a valid legal claim to any damages? I wish they could spend a couple of days in jail for wasting everyone’s time.

    1. J-Dub421

This lawsuit will get tossed. It’s completely frivolous.

    2. catdaddyd

the only kind of attorney that would take this is just an attention wh*re.

  8. mhs1964

In the CJ article about this suit, a person was quoted that a morally bankrupt organization like the NCAA had no business judging such an honorable university. Think about that.

    1. ClutchCargo

When you are called morally bankrupt by someone associated with Uoflittlebrother, that’s how you know you suck at life. But they still don’t owe those idiot fans any money.

    Here’s an idea:

Why don’t Louisville fans gather their cash, throw it into a huge pile, douse it with gasoline and light it on fire.

The result will probably be the same, but the fire will at least keep them warm for a few minutes.

Does this group even know how to spell, “sue”?

Roush’s opening line should be award-winning.

  13. UKinIN

Is it even legal to form a group called “The University of Louisville Protection and Advocacy Coalition”? Doesn’t that imply that the group is part of U of L?

    1. Jiminy Crickets

This. Funny that UL could sue them for naming rights infringement

  18. Rixter

I think it’s a good idea to sue the NCAA regarding the hooker scandal just before they start investigating the pay-for-pay scandal. “See that bear? Here’s a stick….”

    1. Rixter

      *pay for play. I think

How did they find a lawyer that would even touch this case, no strike that.. Idea. It’s not really even a case.

  21. RICKSVD

I’m having my best basketball season ever, they are so fractured that they’ll never be healed, who would want to coach there, you have no idea what’s coming, the stigmatism is awful, just stick with David Padgett t and be happy that you make the NIT for the next five to seven years cheating whores. And an NIT birth is not a given.
