I know this is weird, but when everyone else gets excited for March, I get sad because we’re near the end of the season.

    1. RealCatsFan

I know what you mean. Especially when it’s a good season.

I had a little bit of that feeling at the volleyball tournament at the KFEC this past weekend – the realization hit me that this was the last time I would get to see older daughter play in it. 🙁

    2. Iamheasyouarehe

I don’t think it’s weird, after the final four there’s the waiting for college football season. The waiting is the hardest part.

    3. RealCatsFan

Yeah, love our Bat Cats, but baseball just doesn’t crank my tractor.

    4. ClutchCargo

I get what you’re saying, Realme. But the upside for me is it’s spring by the time the tournament is over. I like doing things outside, even yard work. The sucky part is if we lose before we should, and then have too many games left involving other teams.

    5. J-Dub421

It was weird not having a game last night. I’ve gotten used to Tuesday games. I didn’t know what to do with my Tuesday evening. The end of the season does suck, but I’m still excited for the tournament.

    6. ClutchCargo

I do like baseball, and grew up a Reds fan. Despite the results over the past 20+ years, those two things are not mutually exclusive. 🙂 The very best Aprils involve celebrating a basketball title and then seamlessly moving on to baseball.

    7. ClutchCargo

The lack of weeknight UK games has had me watching more mid-major basketball this week than in the whole rest of the season combined.

    8. J-Dub421

I’ve been watching tennis. Thank goodness there’s a Masters 1000 series tournament on right now. And that we ditched cable and stream TV now so I get the Tennis Channel.

    9. StillBP

Same here, Real. J-Dub Tues night wasn’t the same without a UK game.

    10. J-Dub421
    11. weneedpitino

Yes you’re right it was awkward without a game last night. So I was thinking who thinks Billy Kennedy should be cal’s successor after cal leaves this year for the Lakers or UCLA? Kennedy is a stand up guy with integrity and I really like him, and he’s a good recruiter. If not him the young richard Pitino is all these things as well and not to mention he is a legend born unto the legendary rick pitino. Go cats!!

    12. StillBP

I haven’t been able to comment the last couple of days due to work. I was hoping this dude ^ had gone away in that time. Here he is, plowing forward with his not funny posts.

    13. Realme

WNP, if I am going to remain the one person who finds you amusing, you’re gonna need some new material soon.

    14. RealCatsFan

WeeniePiteenie, only if we can get Billy Clyde back as our recruiting coordinator.

  2. RealCatsFan

I had to laugh a little that all the pundits are leaving Gonzaga as a 1 seed after they dropped a 13 point loss to St. Mary’s.

WTF – how the hell does Gonzaga lose to a girls’ team? (And why are they all named “Gail”?)

    1. J-Dub421

Gonzaga should be dropped to a 2 seed now. They have far and away the fewest Quadrant 1 wins of any of the top teams. They haven’t played a ranked team since early December. If they want to be taken seriously, they need to join a big boy conference.

    2. ClutchCargo

The Gails and the SF Dons should hook up. 😉

    3. mashburnfan1

JDub…what conf are they supposed to join. All the ones out West are weak. PAC 12 should get 1 bid and really don’t deserve it. They are too far away to join any other good Conf. They did play a good out of conf. schedule.

    4. J-Dub421

      Big 12.

  3. RealCatsFan

    YES! Reid is back, baby!

    1. J-Dub421

      You know I’m happy. 🙂

    2. CATandMONKEY

You and my wife, both; JDub.

Took her and girls to the Auburn game; Travis on sidelines. Great game, sad wife.

    3. RealCatsFan

You know what they say, happy wife, happy life! Guess you need to give her a ladies night out with the Chippendales. 🙂

  4. RealCatsFan

I was very sorry to read that TAMU is firing Billy Kennedy. I have always thought he is a classy guy and a very good coach. And I agree with what others have written that firing a coach who has had success while battling Parkinson’s is not a good look for that AD. He better make an absolute home run hire, or he will be the one looking for another job. If UL had not already hired Mack I could see Kennedy being a good candidate for that job (but then I would have to dislike him. 🙂 )

    1. J-Dub421

Agree with everything you just said.

  5. RealCatsFan

My first memory of Annie Potts in movies was watching the movie “Corvette Summer” when I was 13. I was (and still am) a motorhead as a kid, and even though the movie was pretty forgettable, I thought it was pretty cool,

    1. J-Dub421

She was in Ghost Busters, and I loved her on Designing Women. She’s great on Young Sheldon now.

  6. J-Dub421

If your kid is too dumb to get better then 1000 on the SAT, then they don’t need to go to college.

    1. RealCatsFan

Yep. And I don’t buy the argument that the kids didn’t know about it. Maybe some of them, but others actually posed with athletic gear to act like they were athletes.

    2. RealCatsFan

Looks like Jared’s parents were showing us how to do it right, the old school way…

      http://nymag.com/intelligencer/2019/03/jared-kusher-college-admissions-story-shady-but-legal.html

  7. RealCatsFan

The scandal about the rich and famous people bribing their kids into these colleges really burns me up. I seriously hope every one of them gets jail time. Fines have no effect on people with lots of money. Getting locked up for a year might get some peoples’ attention.

    1. J-Dub421

Their kids should all be expelled as well. If their kids already “graduated” their degrees should be revoked.

    2. Iamheasyouarehe

Rich people rarely suffer any real consequences other than the embarrassment of being caught. I doubt anything will come of it.

    3. RealCatsFan

And few people are truly embarrassed any more. They might be unhappy for a little while that they got caught, but most of them just go right back to breaking he rules. Our nation is in the midst of an epidemic of greed and a lack of shame.

    4. J-Dub421

Instead of bribing people to get your kid into college, just hire some tutors. Duh.

    5. Iamheasyouarehe

You hit the nail on the head RealCats, I totally agree with all that.

    6. RealCatsFan

To be fair, parents making “donations” to colleges, and then their kids magically qualifying has been going on for decades. I bet you could look at the kids of our past few presidents and the majority of the members of Congress and the Senate and you will see a lot of this going on.

    7. Iamheasyouarehe

That would certainly explain why things are so screwed up in DC, that and they’re a bunch of criminals.

  8. RealCatsFan

So maybe Cal slamming the Selection Committee is his way of telling Mitch to grow a backbone and fight for UK to get a decent draw in the tournament.

    1. Iamheasyouarehe

Does anyone remember us ever getting a good bracket as a result of CM being on the selection committee? I can’t remember if we did.

    2. Realme

Our fan base and media calling out the coach of the year list makers worked. Might as well call everyone out. Maybe some day we’ll see officials get held accountable for something.

    3. ClutchCargo

That is one of the things about Mitch that drives me crazy. He is stubborn as hell and will fight to the death over stuff that he is in total control of, but won’t try to influence a committee that he is on to benefit his own school.

    4. J-Dub421

At this point our scheduling can’t get much worse, so I have no problem with calling out the selection committee. Not to mention, I wish they’d make the brackets more fair. By keeping teams closer to home, you penalize all the east coast teams, and the west coast teams get a cake-walk.

  9. Realme

Very off topic question. Does anyone on here have Bardstown restaurant recommendations? My folks and I like to meet up there when we get a chance. Have been to Mammie’s and BJ’s, which are both fine.

    1. ClutchCargo

The Rickhouse is solid. Also, It’s been a few years, but I remember Umami Sushi being good. They also have hibachi and other stuff if you’re not into that.

    2. J-Dub421

Whenever we went to Bardstown, my mother-in-law usually cooked, which was great.

    3. StillBP

I don’t have any recommendations, but: You gonna stop in at Boone’s Butcher Shop and stock up on meats?

    4. Realme

Thanks, Clutch. J-dub, what’s her specialty? I been craving some kind of crab cake or salmon croquette type thing. Does she have that in her repertoire? If so, make us a reservation. 🙂

    5. ClutchCargo

Boone’s is my go-to for briskets, BP! I have been wanting to try Bottle & Bond Kitchen at Bardstown Bourbon Co., but it hasn’t happened yet. Go out on a limb and try that one for us, Realme.

    6. StillBP

I love to stock up at Boone’s. They also have bones for the dog! Everyone is happy when I go to Boone’s lol

    7. Realme

That’s on my list, Clutch! It looks great. I’m going to send my mom a few links, for Herra Dura, Bottle & Bond, and Rickhouse and let her decide.

    8. Realme

BP my husband is the meat person (I like it but can take it or leave it), I should remind him he’s missing out by not stopping there.

    9. J-Dub421

She did great pot roast, and chicken and dumplings, mac-n-cheese, broccoli casserole, etc. However, my in-laws moved to Seattle, WA a few years ago, so that won’t help you in Bardstown….

    10. Realme

Luckily I cheated my diet already today, so I’m not drooling up my keyboard right now.

    11. RealCatsFan

Damn, is it lunch time yet?

    12. StillBP

RCF I get in to the office at 7, so yes 11:30 is lunch time!

  10. ClutchCargo

It’s weird how quickly “Here I go again” popped into my head when Ryan said “Whitesnake.” Like, instantly.

    1. Iamheasyouarehe

Wouldn’t have anything to do with Tawny Kitaen rolling around on the hood of a car in that video would it?

    2. RealCatsFan

I wonder what percentage of teenage boys had that poster of her posing on that white Lambo?

    3. ClutchCargo

Now that I think about it, probably. lol But it was instantaneous and not even a conscious thing. In fact, I had to double check if that was even a Whitesnake song.

  11. Realme

People should pick fights with Shannon more often, that was fun.

    1. RealCatsFan

Matt can be annoying, but when he gets to cackling like that it actually makes me laugh out loud.

We have a guy here that I work with, and when he gets on the phone and gets annoyed with a difficult customer, it is very entertaining. The rest of us will kind of gather around and wait for the steam to start pouring out of his ears. 🙂

  12. unbridled

Mark me down as not caring what idiots with money or the idiot institutions of higher education do.

    1. RealCatsFan

You just keep on doing you, unbridled! 😀

    2. RealCatsFan

Yep, ‘Murica needs more “unbridled” greed. It’s what made it great, after all! 🙂

    3. unbridled

Greed? What about the greed of college admissions that annually increase the tuition cost by 10%? Get real. Yeah I don’t care what these stooges do. The ROI from “higher learning” has made it cost prohibitive for the vast majority of the workforce. Good riddance. The job market is shifting and conventional degrees are obsolete. Keep doing you and looking backwards though….because you’ve been told to do so by your party leaders.

    4. J-Dub421

You won’t get your foot in the door for any job above minimum wage without a college degree.

    5. unbridled

That’s patently false and the job market is changing.

    6. unbridled

      Please try harder j Dub

    7. RealCatsFan

Hey, I won’t disagree with you that there is plenty of greed to go around. There is no way to justify the increase in college tuition over the past 25 years. But people who have the means to pay for their entire neighborhood’s cost of tuition who use that money to game the system to benefit their own kid at the expense of someone with more smarts and less financial means will get no respect or sympathy from me when the hammer comes down on them.

And I think you are alluding to the need for skilled tradespeople in the workforce – and again, I will agree that there are definitely opportunities there, if college is not your thing. I think that is an avenue that should be pushed harder by high school guidance counselors, because some people attend college just to try to get a degree, and they end up taking the path of least resistance and getting one in a field that they have no real interest in, or that doesn’t pay enough to recoup all the college loans they had to take out.

And while we are at it, I have no allegiance to any political party. I am registered as an Independent, but if I see a candidate who has a position that I think will help the country, they get my vote – whether it is dem, repub, libertarian, whatever.

I’m just sick of seeing wealthy people who whine about paying taxes while they go out and do dishonest things like this to keep on climbing that ladder. Doesn’t matter if they have to stomp on someone else to get there, they and their kids are “better” than “those other people” and deserve to have privileges.

      Go CATS!

    8. J-Dub421

Have you ever done hiring for an office job, unbridled? I have. If you didn’t have a college education, your resume went directly into the trash.

    9. unbridled

First of all, yes I know several large companies that will hire high school graduates for several “office jobs.” Regardless, your claim that someone can’t get higher compensation than minimum wage without a college degree is beyond ignorant. Hell I know waiters and waitresses that make $50-$60k a year. Graduating college does not mean what it used to. Literally anyone can graduate college. College used to weed out bad applicants for employers. Now it’s a crap shoot. College has become a joke where “everyone must go” and literally everyone can graduate if the put forth minimal effort. It’s become a money making scam. Obviously a college education will remain necessary for quite a few fields…but the return on investment is not there for a majority of potential students.

    10. unbridled

I’d wager that the majority of high school graduates will not attend college in 20 years. With advancements in technology and a changing job market….it just won’t be necessary
