There’s 1352 guitar pickers in Nashville,
There will be 15,000 Cat fans.

    2. Iamheasyouarehe

I knew I could count on you runnin’.

  2. runningunnin.454

Last Friday was National Women’s Day; it’s been extended thru today for you ladies that couldn’t get ready on time.

    1. Realme

      Thanks, where are our presents?

    2. runningunnin.454

Kind of an honorary thing, I think.

    3. ClutchCargo

Does this mean the other 361 days are all Men’s Day? Woohoo!

    4. Realme

I’m pretty sure every calendar day is like 4 “holidays” now. It’s probably Internet Comment Section Day soon and we can all celebrate together.

    5. ClutchCargo

Realme, let us know when Internet Troll Day is coming up so I can just stay offline that day. Actually, it would be like any day that we lose a basketball game.

    6. Iamheasyouarehe

Really hoping there won’t be another day like that this season.

    7. chris gettelfinger is not walking through that door

      Or football. Poor Terry Wilson.

    8. J-Dub421

I’ll take my presents in chocolate, please and thanks. 😉

  3. Realme

I think it’s awesome Ravi did that, and it clearly worked. They got noticeably louder, but of course we didn’t know why at the time.

    1. ClutchCargo

When a competitor like Ravi says it, it carries a little more weight. The people who got mad were probably the ones he was talking to.

    2. runningunnin.454

I couldn’t watch live; I was listening on the radio, and it was so loud, I couldn’t hear Leach and Pratt…now that’s loud.

    3. RealCatsFan

Clutch, is it like what Cal said about throwing a rock into a pack of dogs? The one that yelps is the one you hit. 🙂

    4. CATandMONKEY

Was also listening on radio. Second half was definitely loud.

I have been one of the biggest critics of the “Rupp mystique” as a given, every game however,

We were at the Auburn game and Rupp was packed and Rockin.

When Rupp is ON; Look the EFF OUT!

    5. ClutchCargo

I believe so, RCF. That he was referring to Tipton with that comment is what makes it one of my favorite Cal-isms.

    6. RealCatsFan

I love that Cal likes to call out Tipton. And the other writers are laughing at him.

    7. J-Dub421

Rupp is great for really big games, but can be dead for all others, especially in the lower bowl.

  4. runningunnin.454

Saw on an LSU fan site, somebody said Calipari turned them in to the FBI because we didn’t get Javonte’ Smart.
    Har har har.

    1. Iamheasyouarehe

      Geaux figger.

    2. ClutchCargo

      Seems legit. Ha!

    3. chris gettelfinger is not walking through that door

Bruce Pearl is famous for turning other programs in. Hmmm (rubs chin)…

    4. CATandMONKEY

He must have been in the right place but it must have been the wrong time.

    5. CATandMONKEY

      Apologies for butchering your name.

    6. Iamheasyouarehe

      Lol it happens CAT.

    7. J-Dub421

Cal is many things, but he’s not a rat.

  5. chris gettelfinger is not walking through that door

So “What’s the latest on Reid?” has become the latest incarnation of “Any news on Patterson & Lucas?”.

    1. Realme

I really thought he’d play a few minutes Saturday. Hope he can play this weekend and get back in the flow.

    2. unbridled

He obviously needs to play this weekend

    3. ClutchCargo

I hear he bought a farm near Nashville. That’s gotta be a good sign.

  6. RealCatsFan

My head hurts this morning from spending 14+ hours per day this weekend under a thousand high intensity lights with whistles and screaming female voices echoing in my ears.

    1. Realme

    2. chris gettelfinger is not walking through that door

RCF, a 2 dollar pair of ear muffs (2 dollars with a coupon) & a 2 dollar pair of smoke lens safety glasses from Harbor Freight will help with that. Ha! I tried to post links but mod bot doesn’t like them.

    3. RealCatsFan

It’s like having a hangover without the fun the night before. Actually, I love this tournament. If you are into volleyball at all, it is amazing. Saw KIVA’s top team playing a top ranked team out of Chicago that had a 6’6″ beast of a young woman hitting for them. Taylor Landfair is a Gatorade AA and is a junior. Can touch 10’8″. When she hits the ball, the players on the other side basically have to take cover. Genetic lottery winner. I guess she might be volleyballs equivalent of Zion.

    4. ClutchCargo

RCF, as a former Marching Band Dad, I know that kind of hangover very well.

    5. RealCatsFan

Oh wow, I can only imagine the kind of headache a marching band can induce!

When I think of marching bands, I think of the tuba player, and when I think of tuba players, I think of this:

    6. ClutchCargo

Actually, it wasn’t so much a headache as the feeling of being completely drained from a long day and late night of being a beast of burden moving heavy equipment around.

  7. RealCatsFan

So are the “woo guys” actually cheering because Lucas Orbzut is in the crowd? 🙂

  8. RealCatsFan

I’m still scratching my head why our team seems to look like they have never seen a zone before.

    1. RealCatsFan

So are we saying that Cal made an adjustment at halftime to solve Florida’s zone? Gee, I thought Cal was a mediocre coach who never makes adjustments.

    2. ClutchCargo

There was a stretch at some point in the game where we were driving into and through that zone and being disruptive with ball movement. Still too much passing around the perimeter, but I think there is hope.

The “Woo” does not translate well over the radio.

    Boo for the woo.

    1. J-Dub421

      The woo’s are annoying.

  10. runningunnin.454

Congrats to Murray State for getting in the dance. Ten to one, they’ll be our 1st or 2nd game.

    1. Realme

Yeah, I want to watch Morant, but not dunking on our heads.

    2. RealCatsFan

Matt thinks it will be Gardner Webb. Haven’t we played them since the BCG debacle?

  11. RealCatsFan

The 1998 comeback against dook was the closest thing to revenge that we have had for the 92 game. And we hate dook not only because of the 92 game but more so for the way they are given a complete pass by the NCAA and the national media for the many shady things that have gone down under the watch of The Vampire.

    1. runningunnin.454

The ’98 game was sweet revenge; especially watching K’s face as he blew a 17 point lead in 9 minutes.
I couldn’t decide if he was constipated, or eating a lemon.

    2. Iamheasyouarehe

I watched that game just a couple weeks ago just to watch K squirm.

    3. J-Dub421

Wayne Turner just drove on Wojo and scored again.

    4. runningunnin.454

And Linda Ronstadt was singing, “Blew By You”.

    5. RealCatsFan

Buddy of mine used to have that on the back of his boat. 30 foot Donzi with 2 650 HP motors in it. 🙂 You could literally watch the gas gauge move.

    6. Iamheasyouarehe

I breathe a sigh of relief every time I see Bolden play that he chose duke. He looks a like a cross between a giraffe and an ostrich running.

    7. RealCatsFan

I heard Bolden got hurt Saturday. If he is out then they are pretty thin inside.

  12. Iamheasyouarehe

How much you want to bet we play every team we’ve ever lost to in the tournament?

    1. J-Dub421

So, same as every other year?

    2. Coach Ratface

As David Byrne says, “Same as it ever was”.

  13. RealCatsFan

Just like the NBA, I suspect that they never call traveling in AAU ball. Or play defense.

  14. RealCatsFan

Matt talks about Trinity and the other private schools recruiting – same thing happens with Assumption and Mercy in volleyball.

    1. J-Dub421

Assumption doesn’t have to recruit in volleyball. The good players want to go there because they have a dynasty. My uncle was the head tennis coach at St. X for 25 years until he retired a few years ago. During that time his teams won 12 State titles and had 13 runner-ups. Never finished worse than second in the state. He didn’t have to recruit, anyone who was good wanted to play for him. Not to mention, to get into the private schools you have to pass the entrance exam, and be able to afford tuition (currently $13,000 per year).

    2. RealCatsFan

They don’t have to actively recruit, but they definitely put out feelers to attract the best of the best to their club teams. The club system is where they get the pipeline of talent going to the high school team. Our Oldham County high school has lost several very good players to Mercy and Assumption. Ron Kordes has created a juggernaut and he got the volleyball scene going in Louisville. He definitely knows what he is doing. And I’m not saying it in a bad way – if a players wants to play with the best of the best for a national championship in the Louisville area, they play for KIVA and they go to Assumption. It’s not unlike UK Basketball. Yeah, I would love to see our local HS team with some of that talent, but I don’t blame the players for wanting to go to play for the big dog on the block.
