Where at in middlesboro? Open to the public?

  2. runningunnin.454

Proud of our football team. They stood tall before 100,000 A&M fans and the Texas heat. Reminded me of the ’77 team; their only loss was early in the season in 90+ degree Texas heat.
Little disappointed in the coaches; worth a shot to get TW involved against a weak secondary; but, he was too slow making the decision to scramble…plus A&M was spying him. We needed to go back to our strengths…Benny, C.J., and Lynn.
Still looking forward to the Georgia game, and finishing 11-1 or 10-2.

    1. cats646

      ^^^^ second everything you said.

    2. Ben

I completely agree with everything said here. The one thing I’d add is that I’m really excited to see TW grow as a player. When he gets more comfortable and those decisions start to come quicker, he’s going to be a hell of a player.

    3. ClutchCargo

This game confirmed the very things I was worried about this team. Fortunately, we won’t be in that same situation again this season. Feeling kind of meh right now, but looking forward to seeing them take care of business from here on out. The way we lost this game is the most disappointing thing, so hopefully lessons were learned.

    4. CombatMedic_98

Whatever. You drank the TERRIFIED TERRY kool-AID and now what! You still thirsty or are you full!

    5. cats646

      Well said Ben

    6. cats646

Benny will come out against Vandy on a mission to destroy every defensive player on the field. I look for him to go for 200+ against them to make up for gran not giving him the ball against A&M.

    7. CombatMedic_98

Yep. Thank goodness our QB can hand the ball off good too Benny…shew. If not we’d be 0-6!

    8. chris gettelfinger is not walking through that door

The injuries have caught up with us a bit also. Hopefully Watkins & Bohanna (and whoever else) are 100% after this off week. I knew it was unavoidable that this would hurt us at some point (losing Ware, Landon, and Pachal for the season, and then the usual dings that are day to day or week to week).

    9. J-Dub421

Either way, we’re 5-1 halfway through the season, and the only definite loss left on our schedule is Georgia. We have a definite shot at going 10-2, and I will take that all day.

    10. chris gettelfinger is not walking through that door

BTW RG, that loss was to Baylor. I don’t think they were even a good team and we went undefeated in the SEC. We steamrolled UGA like 33-0, in Athens I think. UGA wasn’t good that year, but we beat Penn St. & LSU and they were both top 10.

    11. jahanc2uky

3rd Best Team in the SEC, right now!

  3. chris gettelfinger is not walking through that door

Well, Gran was awful, Terry was awful (maybe not totally his fault if the coaches handcuffed him like MJ seems to think), Josh got held every play, their run D was great. All this = our first loss (obvs).

BTW, the HC is ultimately responsible for the play calling IMO. The 3rd and 2 call was about as bad as Kyle Shanahan’s call near the end of the Super Bowl a couple years ago. If you don’t remember, he had the Falcons in the shotgun instead of a basic run formation around the 25 with a chance to run clock and kick the field goal to ice the game. Instead they took a sack and got pushed out of FG range and the Pats won like their 50th Super Bowl.

Now, I have never been the “Put Gunnar in” guy, but Saban & Kirby Smart aren’t afraid to change QBs if they think it’s necessary, even in a NC game. Why is Stoops?

    1. ClutchCargo

It almost feels like Cal sticking with a young player to let him learn through his mistakes. Except there aren’t as many games in football, and each one matters a lot more. For those of us keeping our expectations in check prior to the season, this kind of stuff is the reason why. And I don’t know if I can get over not giving Benny the ball 3rd and 2.

    2. J-Dub421

Everyone is bashing TW, but I thought this was the weakest performance by our offensive line all season so far. The pocket collapsed almost immediately all night long.

    3. cats646

I’m actually not too mad at the call in OT. He was trying to be aggressive and surprise them. They just played it very well. But don’t get me wrong, I’m livid that we had 3 tImeouts and driving the ball down the field with 2:30 left on the clock and we just let it run out! I love coach stoops and I think he is an awesome coach but man that was stupid!!!!!

    4. chris gettelfinger is not walking through that door

I can consider differing opinions on what happened with Terry, but ridiculousness of the 3rd and 2 call is non-negotiable.

You’re right though, cats646 about running the clock out. If we hadn’t played for OT maybe we would have had a shorter field goal than we had in OT, and the game might have been over.

    5. ClutchCargo

I’m not going to bash TW. I think he was just forced to get away from what has made him successful so far. We really outsmarted ourselves with the offensive game plan.

    6. RealCatsFan

Clutch, your comment makes me think of the way I tease my buddy during turkey season about outsmarting all those turkeys. 😉

    7. ClutchCargo

I smoke two turkeys every Thanksgiving. I always jokingly say to myself as I’m getting started (making sure my wife can hear me): “I am smarter than a dead bird.”

    8. RealCatsFan

Years ago I had a co-worker who was from India. There were 3 or 4 of us standing around one day talking about smoking turkeys, and I could tell by the confused look on his face that he was trying to figure out how we could stuff a turkey into a pipe and smoke it. 🙂

    9. chris gettelfinger is not walking through that door

When I used to preach for a small country congregation, I had to qualify it when I told people we had wild turkey for lunch, since I’m a teetotaler. 🙂

In this family even some of the ladies were hunters, and one Sunday they fed me some deep fried wild turkey, and it was great!

    10. CombatMedic_98

Well six games into the season, if they don’t make a change then we will lose 3-4 more games! Wilson CANNOT throw under pressure. His split-second decision making is dangerous. He’s not a throwing QB. Someone said well he’s fast…LOL! Yeah look at his stats! It’s laughable! Thank goodness for Benny and the Defense

  4. chris gettelfinger is not walking through that door

To what Matt just said about Terry: yesterday Anthony White speculated that Terry may have taken a hit, maybe even last week, that hurt him, and we didn’t realize it and he’s tentative because his cage and teeth have been rattled.

    1. runningunnin.454

I don’t think he was hurt; but, if your strength is scrambling, you can’t step out of bounds or slide a yard short of the 1st down marker.
I didn’t think of the possibility that the coaches told him to play that way; but, something was different…he had not played that way before. Hopefully we learned a lot from the game.

    2. cats646

Wilson needs to have a heart to heart with SJ and start playing like him. Wilsons talent plus SJ’s smarts and heart = Championship team

    3. RealCatsFan

At the beginning of the season, I was really hoping that Terry would be our Lamar Light. He showed flashes of similar speed and elusiveness. Sadly, this weekend he looked like Decaffeinated Terry.

  5. J-Dub421

A&M got away with being dirty all night. There were quite a few home cooked calls. (Not why we lost, but sure didn’t help us any and added insult to injury.)

    1. cats646

      ^^ officiating sucked all night.

  6. runningunnin.454

The defense played like Wildcats…I’ve never been more impressed with a defensive effort.
And, as Josh’s reputation grows, he will get some of those holding calls. I was more aggravated with the missed PI no-call, and the block in the back…those were obvious.

    1. J-Dub421

There were 2 obvious blocks in the back, both by A&M. I get really annoyed when those types of things don’t get called because those are plays with a high potential to injure one of our players.

    2. chris gettelfinger is not walking through that door

I must have missed the PI. Which play/drive was that?

    3. chris gettelfinger is not walking through that door

RG, I like the reference to how we got the nickname “Wildcats”!

  7. chris gettelfinger is not walking through that door

BTW, I’m not saying fire Eddie Gran, but where is the “FIRE EDDIE GRAN” guy from last year? He even kept posting that on bball threads. lol

I don’t remember his screen name.

    1. ClutchCargo

Oh, man, I had forgotten about that guy. Hopefully you didn’t just lure him back in.

    2. RealCatsFan

What about the dude who is on the rampage about bringing Gunnar in to replace Terry?

    3. CombatMedic_98

      Thats me!!!

    4. ClutchCargo

That same dude would be on Gunnar’s ass after the first sign of struggling. Some people aren’t mentally tough enough to handle the stress of following UK football.

    5. CombatMedic_98

Correct Crashed Cargo, except ignorance is bliss in your case. If something does not work leaders or head coaches FIX IT until it’s right. We were told to be patient “Wilson is coming along, building up His confidence…blah, blah, blah!” Welp, this was the most scared QB I have seen play football in 40 years! He can’t make decisions under the center under pressure period. He has to be switched out. Any can hand the ball off and throw 20 yards!

    6. chris gettelfinger is not walking through that door

RCF, that would be Combat Medic 98. And I forgot, the other guy actually said “FIRE EDDIE GRAN!”. I forgot the exclamation point.

Hey, that reminds me of a song:
      “I love you, period,
Do you love me, question mark,
      Please, please, exclamation point,
I wanna hold you, in parentheses.”

      Very clever.

    7. J-Dub421

As fast as the pocket collapsed all game, Gunnar would have taken about 100 sacks against A&M. Terry at least has the option of rushing and trying to make something happen.

    8. J-Dub421

Ah yes, the resident idiot Combat Medic. A guy with no grasp of basic grammar, spelling, or punctuation.

    9. CombatMedic_98

Rrrrrright you forgot the exclamation point at the end your statement…it would have been more exiting to read…it was kinda just “blah

    10. RealCatsFan

Commbat Medic certainly has a right to his opinion, and I realize that there are many others who think Gunnar would be better. But there is a saying out there along the lines of, “there is no person more popular the day after a tough loss than the backup quarterback.”

  8. RealCatsFan

It says a lot about the state of Kentucky Football that we are mad about a loss on the road against a team with the best run defense in the nation instead of taking it as a moral victory. I think the crowd that we brought to enemy territory 500+ miles away dispels any notion that Kentucky is a one sport school. That being said, those kids played their hearts out, especially the defense, and it really sucks to see them not be rewarded with a big win mainly because of some questionable coaching decisions. I hope they apologized to the players, because they kind of let them down. The effort was there, but the execution and higher decision making was limited. Let’s learn fro the mistakes, regroup, heal up and finish the last six games as strong as the first six. Go Cats! (I sound a little like Chester 🙂 )

    1. ClutchCargo

Agree with all of that. Looking at it the way you put it in the first couple of sentences makes me feel better. It was kind of a demoralizing loss, in spite of how good A&M was. The defense absolutely gave it everything they had, and I really hate it for them.

  9. RealCatsFan

Shifting gears a bit, did anyone watch the UK NBA Combine last night? Seeing the 3-point drill and Tyler Herro effortlessly nailing 9 three’s in a row got me a little excited. Yes, I know they were unguarded, but wow that kid can shoot! I just about had a heart attack when Keldon Johnson went down right at the end. Glad it appears to be a minor ankle tweak and not something more serious.

    1. J-Dub421

Everyone looked pretty good. Glad to have EJ and Jemarl back healthy. I can’t wait for basketball season! Soon….

    2. RealCatsFan

I’m just really bummed that I won’t have my opportunity to watch any games in person like I had the pleasure of watching the past few years. Oh well, easy come, easy go.

    3. DelrayCat

Brad Junior hit 9 in a row also…lol. On a lessor team, he might play….shorts jacked up and all.

  10. chris gettelfinger is not walking through that door

BTW, I got distracted when Matt was giving Stoops a pass earlier. What did he say at the tail end of:
“Everyone keeps bringing up Saban benching Hurts for Tua, but…”.

    1. chris gettelfinger is not walking through that door

Again, I don’t know if Gunnar is the guy, but even Stoops said they considered switching (and considered switching kickers too).

    2. J-Dub421

But Gunnar isn’t Tua, was the gist of it.

    3. chris gettelfinger is not walking through that door

Gunnar isn’t Tua, that’s right, but that’s beside the point. Again, he may not be the guy, but throwing that out isn’t a strong argument IMO.

  11. RealCatsFan

Sure would be nice if I could hit PAUSE while listening to KSR like I can on the TV. Then I could hit RESUME after that annoying customer call is over and not miss anything.

    1. J-Dub421

      That would be nice.

  12. J-Dub421

I just went and did the math on this, and it looks like Gronk averages somewhere around 8 targets per game. We should throw to CJ a bit more, but Gronk is the best tight end ever, and he doesn’t get thrown to that much. Tight ends get used as blockers a lot.

  13. versaillescorey

Did they say anything about keldons injury this morning on KSR? Didn’t get to listen. Really surprised haven’t seen anything more on it. Little concerned about it

    1. cats646

They said it’s a minor sprain and he will be fine.
