Most things I worry about never happen anyway…..Petty
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MC2XEEPTSCw
So I forgot to post this on yesterday’s ST, but Monday at lunch I’m listening to one of the local sports talk shows in Montgomery.
An Auburn fan called in and he thinks Gus has lost the team (an Auburn grad I work with says the same), and one of the hosts said IF they fire Gus, his first call would be to…Mark Stoops.
When I posted that on a lunchtime thread, someone else chimed in with “It begins”. Yup.
BTW, I don’t think that will happen because Gus has a huge contract with apparently a huge buyout. That’s another thing some AU fans are upset about because it would take so much money to get rid of him.
I would rather be stuck with Gus instead of Bubby Petrino…UL canβt afford to get rid of him.
Good. I need Bobby Petrino right where he is. He is pretty much the last remaining scumbag in that athletics department, and I don’t know how I could continue to despise them if he was gone.
I’m afraid that schools will be calling him. I agree with Matt that he doesn’t seem like he would want to make a move that is only slightly above lateral. I believe Auburn would be a big leap up, but you’re competing with Saint Nick in state AND in the SEC West. Jimbo went to A&M, but he’s not in state, and he’s got the Texas talent pool out there.
At this point, I worry more that other schools will cherry pick our assistant coaches, especially DC and position coaches. Overall, we have a really good staff here now.
Yep, especially Matt House.
I worry about losing assistants like House and Marrow. But, looking at this year, other programs could come calling for Stoops too. Barnhart takes a lot of heat, but he was probably smart to pay our coaching staffs well. All our athletic programs have improved under his watch and he should get credit for that.
Does UK still have the mandatory retirement policy that forced Rupp out? I believe it was 70.
And he went out kicking and screaming.
Well, so much for our fall break trip to Panama City. On a more serious note, let’s say a prayer for the safety of the folks who live down there in that area, and that those who suffer damage will be able to get back on their feet quickly. It might take five years for that area to recover from a storm this strong.
Yeah, I really hate to see this. My family and I love to go to PCB every summer, and we have rented the same townhouse for the past 4 years. I texted the owner yesterday to let them know we are hoping and praying for the best.
My parents had a condo in Destin for years, and my sister bought their share of it a few years ago. don’t think Destin will get the direct hit that PCB will get, but there will still probably be significant damage. I think they are predicting a 6 foot storm surge as far west as Pensacola.
Yep, prayers needed for them for sure. South GA & AL could be hit pretty hard too.
Meanwhile over at CardChron, they are whining about Bowen Sr testimony, and comparing their scandals to Cal. Talk about delusional.
They must think Cal could have lived with Camby, and monitored him every single second.
They also think Cal monitored Derick Rose’s SAT exam in Detroit…unsound logic, Spock is amazed.
It’s so U of L that they got busted for cheating while on probation for cheating.
Pitno can’t believe we’re talking about this on the day a hurricane is bearing down on the Florida panhandle.
But was the hurricane named after his brother-in-law?
And the anniversary of the day Spiro Agnew resigned.
And yes, I had to Google that. I don’t claim to be a walking Wikipedia like RG is. π
Did the drunk dude on the lawnmower happen to live next door to Rand Paul? π
Stoops talking about identifying what led to Wilson’s poor performance reminds me of some of my experiences coaching youth volleyball. Don’t ever, ever say to a kid who is about to serve the ball “make sure it is over the net” or “just get it in”. If you do, you can be sure that they will do just the opposite! π
I guess I’m just going to trust Hinshaw to figure it out. And Wilson does seem to be very coachable.
I bet you and your daughters are excited that UK volleyball is killing it this year. π
That sounds kind of like when a catcher all of a sudden can’t get the ball back to the pitcher for an unexplained reason. They call it the yips in baseball and golf, but it seems like there’s another word for it in baseball that is sometimes used.
They call it the yips in tennis as well.
We are hoping to make it to a few games this year, now that high school season is almost over.
The average person also does not understand that the insurance companies are the ones that are making out like bandits with the health care fiasco in this country. It is not the providers, or even necessarily the medical equipment manufacturers – it is the insurance companies. And they have been stuffing the pockets of our politicians for decades. They are using Obamacare as a convenient excuse to gouge us. I have news for you – they would have done it anyway, with or without Obamacare. And at the end of the day, they are the one component of the whole thing that is expendable.
And that’s why if we got the government out of it altogether and introduced competition, a lot of those problems would vanish, or at least diminish.
There is no competition though. It’s the same with cable companies. A few major corporations own everything, have no competition, and have bought all the politicians in order to write laws however they (the corporations) want. We have lived in an oligarchy for quite some time, but most people don’t recognize it. We should have gone to single payer like every other developed country in the world a long time ago.
It’s called auditing a class or taking continuing education.
