Big win for the Cats, Nick played good. I think Matt should buy the drinks even though he didn’t score 15.

    1. runningunnin.454

And EJ hit a three, so Matt owes us two rounds.

  2. Realme

Oh I know what would have happened if Nick got 15. Matt would have not followed through on his promise.

    1. secrick

      I’m betting he buys.

    2. Iamheasyouarehe

It wouldv’e been like one of those Buffalo Wild Wings commercials.

    3. RealCatsFan

Well, that party he was supposed to throw for UK fans after the Football Cats beat Louisville in 2017 never materialized, so there’s that.

  3. runningunnin.454

We miss layups because we go for sportscenter top 10 dunks. Use the backboard, soften the shot, and just lay it in.

    1. RealCatsFan

Yep, I am constantly yelling for them to use the backboard – it’s not just there to hit your head on when you dunk. Mrs. RCF always says “hey honey, he used the backboard” whenever someone banks one in. It’s just “cooler” to hit that teardrop or floater.

    2. Iamheasyouarehe

Very seldom does a player use the backboard on purpose these days, it was common back in the day. Personally I think a bank shot is a thing of beauty.

    3. J-Dub421

So you’re saying we need more Whitaker Bank shots? 🙂

    4. Iamheasyouarehe

Ha ha ha! Whatever goes in is fine with me.

    5. runningunnin.454

In the early to mid ’70’s, Jimmy Dan Connor would bank them in from 20 ft out…beautiful.
And yes, Whitaker Bank gets off easy.

    6. Iamheasyouarehe

I remember that runnin, seems some of the shots missed in close would have a better chance of going in if they used the glass.

    7. chris gettelfinger is not walking through that door

I understand a dunk gets the crowd & team fired up, but if it doesn’t go in, then it’s just “Awwwwww!!!”. If it isn’t there, YES, use the glass or whatever and GET THE POINTS!

One thing I like about Herro is he has so much body control when driving for a layup he almost always makes it and he doesn’t charge. The play Saturday where he got hacked and got the “and one” was great.

  4. RealCatsFan

Oh well, can’t hang around – get to take the dog to the vet because she started hurling last night, wouldn’t eat this morning. Now I found out that she has been eating the pillow in her crate. Fun!

    1. Realme

Hope she feels better soon, and doesn’t cost you a ton of money. 🙂

    2. RealCatsFan

She is fine. Just have to watch her to make sure she “passes” everything. Big knucklehead. Cost me $130.00 – but could have been a lot worse. Having a puppy is like having a toddler around the house.

    3. StillBP

That is cheap. I have a Great Dane. Every vet visit costs at least $300. I’ve learned to wait and watch before going to vet unless it’s an obvious emergency.

    4. RealCatsFan

StillBP, one of my daughter’s teammate’s family has TWO Great Danes. They are like raising horses. You should be able to claim them as a dependent! 🙂

    5. StillBP

Real, I know a lot of people with 2, even some with 3 or 4. We’re sort of a Dane community, we somehow find each other lol.

    6. J-Dub421

Great Danes weigh more than I do, and I’m a full grown adult.

    7. StillBP

J-Dub, my boy weighs more than me. He’s a chubby guy, 145lbs.

  5. Realme

Have you guys seen the video of Security trying to keep Booker from getting to the back to fight Gorgui last night? Hilarious. And it shows how fake most “hold me back” situations are.

    1. StillBP

yeah that was funny. Too bad Ulis isn’t on the team anymore, he would’ve stepped to Deng.

    2. J-Dub421

Booker seems like he’s generally spoiling for a fight. I’m surprised his buddy KAT didn’t step in to try to keep the peace.

    3. Realme

I know. He should be more careful with that face.

  6. Iamheasyouarehe

That push off that left Keldon on the floor early in the second half happened right in front of the ref and not call. Refs should have random eyesight testing.

    1. J-Dub421

I swear officiating gets worse every year.

    2. Iamheasyouarehe

Because there are no consequences for the refs, I’m sure they have some guidelines in place but they never enforce them.

    3. chris gettelfinger is not walking through that door

They Troy radio play by play announcer does a local talk show here (and he hated to lost Neal BTW) said flat out just this morning that you have to pay attention to who the refs are.

He said he LOVES Pat Adams (who of course called that spike on Eye-zak).

Then he said with Doug Shows you can NOT ball fake or he will ALWAYS call a travel. He also said Shows likes to play to the crowd a bit, the old “The crowd is here to see me ref the game” belief.

That was very telling to me. Some folks defend refs like they’re all pure as snow, just human & not perfect, as if egos and such never get in the way. Pfffttt!!!

    4. chris gettelfinger is not walking through that door

Ugh. My spelling. PROOFREAD CG!!! Haha.

    5. chris gettelfinger is not walking through that door

I meant to add that it’s very telling because I trust this guy’s judgment. He’s not the type of talk show host that just goes off on people to get the phones to ring. His talk show co-host does though sometimes.

  7. runningunnin.454

Wherefore art thou, Romeo doesn’t mean where…it means WHY.
Wish Matt would stay away from Shakespeare.

    1. RealCatsFan

I thought you were talking about Langford and how IU sucketh. 🙂

    2. runningunnin.454

      Verily sucketh.

  8. Realme

Totally agree with this guy. So sick of the split screen.

    1. runningunnin.454

Yep, especially when they’re just showing the coaches screaming. Don’t like the “coach wired” thing, either.

    2. Iamheasyouarehe

Yeah like the is how they talk when they’re not wired.

    3. ukjaybrat

“especially when they’re just showing the coaches screaming”
or worse, when they are showing us Duke’s schedule. like anybody watching a UK game gives a flying you-know-what about Duke’s schedule.

    4. chris gettelfinger is not walking through that door

I like the wired thing with Cal some.

I was okay with the Barkley segment Saturday, but just not how long it went. It should have been no more than half that long, if that.

    5. ClutchCargo

I was fine with Barkley. He at least brings something to the broadcast. I would take him over Dukie V any day. Just don’t get so caught up in the reminiscing that the game gets ignored. But a lot of that was DV getting him sidetracked with all the other stuff.

    6. RealCatsFan

Hell, I would probably pay extra to get to hear what the coaches are saying all the time. 🙂 It’s like the NASCAR worshipers who wear the headsets to listen to the pit crews.

    7. Realme

I was fine with how much they talked to Barkley, but just let me watch the game. I don’t need to see their conversation.

    8. Iamheasyouarehe

Hearing them even mention duke is offensive to me, sorry can’t control my extreme dislike for duke and K.

    9. Iamheasyouarehe

Notice I didn’t say hatred for duke and K, although I wanted to. That’s growth for me.

    10. RealCatsFan

iam, when Count K retires I am going to dance and do cartwheels.

    11. Iamheasyouarehe

      AT LEAST RealCats!

    12. chris gettelfinger is not walking through that door

I like “Count K”, but I think I still prefer “Coach Nosferatu”.

    13. Iamheasyouarehe

If I outlive Count K I might visit his grave with a cross, wooden stakes, garlic and some UK gear. The UK gear ought to be the final stake.

    14. runningunnin.454

I’m thinking what you leave on the grave won’t pass for flowers.

    15. Iamheasyouarehe

      Man you’re really good runnin!

  9. secrick

Do you guys realize how many points Hagans got for other people last night. I know you do but it’s just amazing to watch this kid hand out the ball.

    1. Realme

      I love him.

    2. chris gettelfinger is not walking through that door

I love his defense big time.

    3. RealCatsFan

HaHa, Rick, when I first read your post and it said “other people”, I thought you were talking about handing the ball to the other team as in turnovers. I was like “WHAT?” Then I re-read it and realized you were talking about all the dimes he dished out to teammates. 🙂

    4. runningunnin.454

Hagans puts some zip on his passes. The big guys have to stop getting the defensive rebound and tossing a lazy pass to the guards; teams are cheating back and picking those off.

  10. chris gettelfinger is not walking through that door

Players used to wear suits on the sideline if they weren’t dressed out.

    1. RealCatsFan

Jerry Claiborne used to make the football players wear suits, and they couldn’t wear their hair long or have facial hair. LOL, it was almost like the military.

    2. chris gettelfinger is not walking through that door

Now half of them want to look like Sasquatch with the hair and the rats nest beards.

  11. runningunnin.454

West Virginia had not won a Big12 game, 0-5, and beat Kansas. I’m expecting to see a beat down of the Jaybirds next weekend.
Wish PJ would show up every night, like last night.

    1. J-Dub421

That’s why PJ is so frustrating. He can be absolutely dominant when he wants to be.

    2. ClutchCargo

He should feast on the jay birds with Azubuike out of there.
