Kentucky Visited E.J. Montgomery Last Night

247

After the Kentucky basketball team practiced, last night Kentucky coaches watched E.J. Montgomery practice.  Evan Daniels also reported the Cats were joined by North Carolina, who extended a scholarship offer at the conclusion of their visit.

The 6-10 power forward is one of Kentucky’s final targets in the 2018 recruiting class.  Before Montgomery was a McDonald’s All-American, he was an Auburn commit.  Now he is being pursued by Duke, Clemson, UK, UNC, Georgetown and many more.

Here’s some of Montgomery’s best work:

UPDATE

After hosting UNC and Kentucky, Montgomery has scheduled an official visit to Duke.  Montgomery’s father told Evan Daniels he will be in Durham for an official when the Blue Devils take on Virginia Tech.

I’ll just say what we are all thinking… As long as it’s not Duke…

Get ready for the duffel bag drop. K will take him if only to keep Cal from getting him.

North Carolina or U.K. Duke has too many to share playing time.

well most of Dukes big man will be gone. If anything we will have a log jam!! Remember when we would tell recruits to come and share playing time.

We used to do this to Louisville. Stealing Teague after Pitino recruited him for 2 years and hired his dad. Or trey lyles when UL offered him the team. Even derrick Willis, when Cal walked into his hs gym with pitino sitting there and Cal was treated like a celebrity.

Interesting that he prefers NOT to dunk. Lots of layups in this video when he COULD have dunked. Question is why?

    He’s got a nice stroke.

Can shoot outside well, it appears.

Good court vision. Can pass and looks to pass.

He cares about defense. Looked like a good shot blocker.

Good post moves. Can use either hand within 5 feet.

Reminds me of Trey Lyles. He also looks a lot like SKJ. But he can pass better and may have better guard skills. If he’s a much better outsider shooter than SKJ then that’s saying something because SKJ is decent.

It’ll come down to fire in the belly. I’m not sure I saw it in this video. Haven’t seen it in SKJ either.
