Keion Brooks Jr. cancels Michigan State visit, decision coming soon

(Photo: Lopez/Nike)

Kentucky’s dominant 86-69 victory over No. 1 Tennessee on Saturday helped the basketball program well beyond the on-court success for this season.

After visiting Lexington for the massive win last night, sources have confirmed to KSR that 2019 five-star forward Keion Brooks Jr. has cancelled his trip to Michigan State originally scheduled for this afternoon.

Jeff Rabjohns of was the first to break the news.

Sources tell KSR a decision could come as early as next week, with a target deadline being the end of February.

I’ll dive more into the specifics tomorrow in the Monday Insider Notes, but this is major news for Kentucky and its pursuit of the elite 6-foot-8 talent out of Fort Wayne, Indiana.

In the meantime, take a look at his most recent highlight reel here:

May have canceled due to weather. Certainly helps us either way.

It’s officially down to head (Kentucky) and heart (Indiana). This is the kid to replace PJ. Would hopefully retain EJ and Nick to rotate at the 5, and add some icing to the cake with McDaniels, Hurt, Todd or Dante. CATS

Keion would play the 2 or 3. Whitney will take the 3 or 4 like Knox

Normally I’d be excited about news like this, but according to our two top tier recruiting/coaching experts, bigolblue and no more excuses, this is meaningless because no one wants to play for UK or coach Cal.

+1 bigbluebanana. The trolls are nowhere to be found right now haha

You’re not wrong. But when we call them out unprovoked, the trolls win. We have all done it, though.

Friendsofcoal, you couldn’t be more off on this kid. He’s the real deal and plays his ass off every night. He’s three time the player that Jaden McDaniels is as of right now. Now McDaniels my end up better in five years but I doubt it. I’ve wanted this kid for a long time and he’ll be a leader as soon as he steps on campus. He doesn’t give up on any ball and will rebound with anyone in the Country and he can get you twenty a night just on extra effort plays. He plays like MKG and is all heart. We would be damn lucky to have this kid and I’m tell everyone that he could end up as the best player in college basketball or behind Edwards going to Georgia. That kid is awesome and will be the number one pick. Anyway Brooks has it all and he’s got a ton more upside. With Coach Cal he would be unbelievable and I’d be surprised if he wasn’t a top five pick if he comes here. Besides the NBA though, he’s a winner and would definitely make us the favorites for the title next year if we’re lucky enough to get him. Jack and all you that have said we don’t have a chance, I sure hope you’re wrong. He’s going to be a great player wherever he goes, I just hope it’s here.

My sources say he’s still leaning Hoosiers…

Man you sure stay inside your lane don’t you? Lol. Anyway, I sure hope you’re wrong, and of course you’re just guessing and have no clue about anything at all, but why not try some positivity every now and then??
