It is only the second day of OTAs down in Jacksonville and Josh Allen is already sidelined with an injury. Don’t worry, though. Reports out of the Jaguars camp say it is only a minor injury, a knee contusion suffered in his first practice, and he was held out Thursday to play it safe.
Allen’s new head coach, Doug Marrone, said, “We’re just keeping him on the side, working. He’ll be fine. We’re not concerned about it.” Marrone added he has “zero” concern about the injury long term.
The news may be a little scary and all too familiar to Jags fans. You may remember: Dante Fowler Jr., the team’s top pick in the 2015 draft, who also happened to be an elite pass rusher, tore his ACL on the first day of mini-camp and missed his entire rookie season.
Allen’s situation isn’t nearly as significant or as drastic as Fowler’s, but he is expected to miss practice once again on Friday.
