John Calipari Draft Academy offering scholarships to kids of non-salary UK employees

Registration is now open for John Calipari’s Draft Academy basketball camp on UK’s campus in Lexington. Formerly known as the John Calipari Pro Camp, this year’s Draft Academy will welcome Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Kevin Knox, Wenyen Gabriel, Hamidou Diallo and Jarred Vanderbilt back home to help in the on-court instruction and to meet the campers.

The cost is $199 per camper and includes a camp T-shirt, instruction, competitions, autograph session and camp team photo with the featured Wildcat pros. The camp is open to both boys and girls ages 7-17.

For the first time, scholarship opportunities are available to children of non-salary UK employees on a first-come, first-served basis.

“I wanted to open it up to all the workers on our campus, the non-salary positions, for their children, because they run this campus,” Calipari said on KSR this morning. “Without them, we have no campus.”

All participants can register at UKathletics.com/camps. UK staff employees registering will be required to enter their staff identification number to validate the scholarship.

The camp will be split into two sessions, divided into morning and afternoon groups:

Good story. Please make it a sincere point to follow up and report on those who were able to attend based on the Draft Academy Schollys. We don’t need names or photos of the youths; just the stories. Thanks!
