Five-star SF Kevin Knox set to commit in the “next couple of weeks”

After finishing up his high school basketball career at the Jordan Brand Classic, star forward Kevin Knox says his recruitment is coming to a close very soon.

Knox will have several coaches in over the next week or two for in-home visits, and make a decision after that.

The 6’8 forward out of Florida sat down with Pat Lawless of MadeHoops.com, where he broke down his final five schools.

Read what Knox had to say about the Kentucky Wildcats going into the home stretch of his recruitment:

“They have a lot of great players that are committed there and I’m really happy for them,” he said. “Coach Calipari has been on me 24-7 and Coach Kenny Payne is one of the best assistant coaches in the country. I would be able to come in and play with those great guys, who I know I am able to play with because we have been playing together at these all-star events. Their commits have been in my ear all the time and they just have a great overall school.”

To end the article, Knox says all five schools on his final list are still in contention.

“I’m wide open right now, all five schools can get me,” Knox said. “I just plan on talking with my parents soon and a decision will be coming very soon. All five schools have a chance and I’ll make the decision in the next couple of weeks or in early May.”

“Happy for them”? That sounds like an outsider viewpoint to me.

Agreed. Would love to land this kid but it seems like Cal is moving on with guys like baker and possibly smith.

Just my opinion, but I don’t believe for a minute that he doesn’t have it narrowed down to less than five.

Agree with #1….he’s going to be a Tar Heel unfortunately.
Damn I hate how good they are every year. 8-6 is closer than I can take

Well unless the NCAA really is just a hollowed out shell of an institution, UNC should be back down to 5 sometime in the future.

I think Kevin Knox would be a good addition to this class but in the big picture I think Cam Johnson would be a better choice. Johnson has proven he can perform in the college game. He has the size and and can hit the 3 at a pretty good clip. Also there’s a great chance he’ll be around for 2 years and there’s absolutely no chance Knox will be around after next season regardless of how his Freshman season goes. I don’t want to see him at North Carolina or Duke either but there’s always a chance his parents persuade him to go to Florida State. In my opinion the best case scenario is that Cam Johnson ends up at Kentucky and Kevin Knox ends up at Florida State. I think Mo Bamba is by far a much more important piece to this years class than anyone remaining.
