This morning John Calipari woke up with the nation’s No. 1 recruiting class. This afternoon Coach K snatched away that title.
A day after extending a scholarship offer to Jaemyn Brakefield, the 6’8″ wing from Huntington Prep committed to the Blue Devils. A four-star recruit ranked by 247 Sports as the No. 38 player in the class, he is the fifth player to commit to Duke in the 2020 class, joining Jalen Johnson, Jeremy Roach, DJ Steward and Henry Coleman.

Now with one more commitment than Kentucky, the addition of Brakefield was enough for Duke to leap frog the Cats in the 247 Sports rankings. The move doesn’t help Chris Mack either. One of UofL’s top targets, Brakefield just visited Louisville’s campus last week. Mojito Mack and his leather jacket must not have been as cool as this guy:
Mike Kryzxshooouuxjzxzskiiii has the top spot now, but it could change rather quickly. This weekend John Calipari is hosting Devin Askew, the second-ranked combo guard in the 2021 class, for an official visit. Askew has tentative plans to make a decision before the end of the month. If all goes well this weekend and the scorer from California chooses Kentucky over Louisville, he could reclassify and move Kentucky back where they belong at the No. 1 spot.
