Darius Garland staying home to play for Vanderbilt

Vanderbilt has its point guard for the future in five-star prospect Darius Garland, who announced he will join the Commodores’ 2018 class on Monday. A one-time UK target, Garland picked Vanderbilt over Indiana, Kentucky and UCLA.

Garland’s commitment is Bryce Drew’s first from a top-10 player at Vanderbilt, and he could add a second soon if Simi Shittu follows Garland’s lead. Together, they’ll be an enormous upgrade in talent for Drew’s squad, which is consistent with what’s been happening around the SEC as more and more young stars are joining the conference.

We’ve been saying for a while that we have no idea who’s going to replace cal when that day comes. Bryce Drew is at the top of that list until he proves otherwise. He’s been getting better every year. seems like a great character kinda of guy. now showing he can get it done in recruiting. vandy is going to be a tough out for the foreseeable future.

If Bryce Drew is anything like his shady-ass brother, I don’t want anything to do with him.

Anyone know how hard UK was after Garland? Is this a story about UK losing out on a player or just a talent upgrade at Vanderbilt?
