UK begins a 4-game exhibition stint in the Bahamas tonight and believe it or not, over the course of history, UK has traveled outside of the US and it’s territories quite a few times.  Nearly all of these instances are for exhibition games but over the course of the last 70 years, UK has been to 9 different countries, playing 72 games.  The combined record in those games is a very nice 67-5.  A quick recap:

1948 (Olympics, London): 8-0
1966 (Israel): 5-0
1974 (Australia): 17-2 (Losses: Australia, Melbourne)
1978 (Japan): 7-0
1982 (Japan/China): 8-0
1986: (Japan): 6-1 (Loss: Czechoslovakia)
1995 (Italy): 5-1 (Loss: Montecatini)
2009 (Mexico): 2-0
2010 (Canada): 3-0
2014 (Bahamas): 5-1 (Loss: Dominican Republic)
2016 (Bahamas): 1-0

Kentucky may very well take it’s 6th or 7th losses on foreign soil this week.  Only the 1974 trip to the South Pacific saw a multiple loss trip, but that team played a whopping 19 games during their exhibition run.  But if history tells us anything, expect some good things to happen over the next five days.  Here is to UK adding to it’s legacy of memorable and successful foreign trips.
