BTI’s Rants and Ramblings: The Rare SEC Road Favorite for UK

On Saturday, UK will experience something they haven’t in almost 10 years and that is going into an SEC Road game as a favorite.  In fact, in the past 22 years, they have played 91 SEC road games and only been favored in eight of them:

2009: Vanderbilt -3.5, WON 24-14

2007: Vanderbilt -3.5, WON 27-20

2006: Mississippi State -1, WON 34-31

2003: Vanderbilt -6.5, LOST 28-17

2002: Mississippi State -4.5, WON 45-24

1999: Vanderbilt -3.5, WON 19-17

1999: South Carolina -8.5, WON 30-10

1997: Vanderbilt -4.5, WON 21-10

So as we head to Knoxville on Saturday, remember that while rare, Kentucky has experienced good success as an SEC road favorite.  7-1 overall and a very impressive 6-2 against the spread.  This game has a lot of subplots going for it, including how will this Cats team respond to the adversity of the Georgia game.  But for all of the heartache that this program and its fanbase has suffered over the last 25 years or more, sometimes the stats go in our favor.  And as a road favorite things are looking up.

This means nothing, who the hell cares what happened from 2009 and earlier. Has NOTHING to do with this team or the game this week. Most of our players probably did not even know UK had a football team during this time, some were not even born at the beginning of this stupid stat.
