BTI’s Rants and Ramblings: Hell, Even 3-0 Is A Great Accomplishment

As we bask in the glow of the Florida win and head into what should be a very easy win over Murray State this weekend, we should take a minute to celebrate the fact that UK will be 3-0 this year.  And while that only encompasses 1/4 of the season, it is actually a rare feat for UK to go through the first quarter of their schedule unscathed.  In fact, it has only happened 6 times since the SEC expanded in 1992:

2017 (Southern Miss, EKU, South Carolina): Finished 7-6
2010 (Louisville, WKU, Akron): Finished 6-7
2008 (Louisville, Norfolk St, MTSU): Finished 7-6
2007 (EKU, Kent State, Louisville): Finished 8-5
2002 (Louisville, UTEP, Indiana): Finished 7-5
1998 (Louisville, EKU, Indiana): Finished 7-5

Each of those 6 seasons ended in a bowl game appearance and each of those seasons included win or wins over in-state competition.  Murray will check off that box on Saturday.  Only 3 of those 6 seasons kept the winning streak going past 3 games:

2008: Started 4-0
2007: Started 5-0
2002: Started 4-0

We shall see if UK can keep it going against Mississippi State and South Carolina but the win over Florida not only broke that awful streak but puts us in a position for a rare start at UK.

Murray is a trap game honestly between Florida and MSU it’s kinda dangerous

We’re not playing them in basketball.

      They’re not good in football.

I’m an MSU alum living in the area. A bad game means that Benny plays in the second half.

Poor form and ju ju to put up this kind of post before it happens. Should have been saved for Monday.

Yeah. Let’s not turn into Florida. Whenever a team just assumes they will roll through the next game, it doesn’t go well. Let’s hope the players aren’t thinking this way. And from what has been said about the practices this week, they will be ready. I mean, Murray might not be any good, but they will line up their best to win the game. That, in and of itself, is dangerous.

Rose and smell rushing for 100 an 140 respectively. Wilson dashes for 50+
