When reports of a self-imposed recruiting ban surfaced out of Auburn last week, it was hard to believe that Bruce Pearl was telling the truth. Pearl’s program “did not conduct recruiting of any kind from September 2017-April 2018,” according to AL.com, a response to assistant coach Chuck Person’s role in the FBI’s investigation into college basketball.
Turns out, it might be a big fat lie, which would only do more damage to the problem.
According to Yahoo!, there is evidence of several instances that sure do look a lot like recruiting during this recruiting ban.
Auburn had the whole AOT squad on campus tonight, including 4-star commit Babatunde Akingbola, 5-star 2019 wing Isaac Okoro, 5-star 2020 PG Sharife Cooper and 4-star 2019 wing Charles Smith. https://t.co/fz79Ar2nhr

Four-star center Babatunde Akingbola even committed to Auburn during this time we’re to believe Pearl and his staff weren’t out recruiting or having any contact with recruits.
You can read more on the matter from Yahoo! and it’s not a good look for Auburn.
Bruce, what are you doing?????
