Last week, five-star point guard Ashton Hagans decommited from Georgia and many believed he would reclassify to the 2018 class. With Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s NBA stock on the rise, there was some chatter that Kentucky was interested, but now, it appears Hagans is staying put in the 2019 class. Tonight, Hagans cleared up the rumors on his USA Today High School Sports blog.
I just ended my high school season and now I’m gonna look at things more closely. I’m gonna go on a few visits and go from there.
The other thing is that people were saying that I’m reclassifying to 2018, but that’s not true. I’m staying 2019.
Hagans did not list Kentucky among the schools that’s been reaching out to him the most, but with tonight’s news, it appears this recruitment is far from over.
Last week, Hagans had this huge slam over fellow UK target EJ Montgomery to help his team advance in the Georgia state playoffs. Watch it if only for the entertaining call:
Ladies and gentlemen: Ashton Hagans. A huge slam to send a fired up crowd into a frenzy. Newton up 77-68 over Wheeler in the 4th.
