2018 Peach Jam preview featuring must-see matchups and when to watch UK targets

The 2018 Nike EYBL Finals at Peach Jam starts on Wednesday and I can’t remember a year that featured more UK targets. Kentucky has offered 10 players in the class of 2019 and seven will be playing in North Augusta, S.C. this week.

But that total doesn’t include the other UK targets that have yet to land an offer from the Cats. There are 11 other known UK targets throughout the classes of 2019 and 2020 and there could be more. Some targets we won’t know UK is recruiting until we see the Cats’ staff watching this week.

It’s a (peach) jam-packed event with all the peaches and southern hospitality you could ever want. If you’ve never traveled to the Riverview Park Activities Centers this should be the year you make the trip. Don’t forget to bring your sweater.

Here’s the list of UK targets:

2019:

Tyrese Maxey (UK commit, Houston Hoops)

D.J. Jeffries (UK commit, Bluff City Legends)

James Wiseman (offered, Bluff City Legends)

Keion Brooks (offered, Indy Heat)

Vernon Carey (offered, Nike Team Florida)

Cole Anthony (offered, PSA Cardinals)

Jalen Lecque (offered, NY Renaissance)

Kofi Cockburn (NY Renaissance)

Jaden McDaniels (Seattle Rotary)

2020:

N’faly Dante (offered, Mokan Elite)

Scottie Barnes (offered, Nike Team Florida)

Noah Farrakhan (Nike Team Florida)

Hunter Dickinson (Team Takeover)

Jeremy Roach (Team Takeover)

Cade Cunningham (Drive Nation)

Ethan Morton (NY Renaissance)

Here’s every matchup featuring the players listed above (bold is the must see matchup for that session, all times ET)

Wednesday:

5 p.m. Team Takeover (Dickinson/Roach) vs. E1T1

5 p.m. PSA Cardinals  (Anthony) vs. Houston Hoops (Maxey) (This is the best guard matchup of Peach Jam and it’s the first game of the event. Heck yes)

6:30 p.m. Nike Team Florida (Carey, Barnes, Farrakhan) vs. Bluff City Legends (Wiseman, Jeffries) (Carey vs. Wiseman in the second set of games? Best big matchup of the event. Wednesday will be lit)

6:30 p.m. Mokan Elite (N’Faly Dante) vs. United

6:30 p.m. Renaissance (Lecque, Morton, Cockburn) vs. Woodz Elite

8 p.m. Indy Heat (Keion Brooks) vs. Oakland Soldiers

8 p.m. Seattle Rotary (Jaden McDaniels) vs. Drive Nation (Cade Cunningham) (This will be my first chance to see McDaniels and Cunnigham in person, UK will also be watching).

Thursday:

9 a.m. Nike Team Florida (Carey, Barnes, Farrakhan) vs. Team Takeover (Dickinson/Roach) (Carey vs. Dickinson will be fun, but I want to see what Roach can do against Barnes)

9 a.m. Mokan Elite (N’Faly Dante) vs. PSA Cardinals (Cole Anthony)

9 a.m. Renaissance (Lecque, Morton, Cockburn) vs. CP3

10:30 a.m. Bluff City Legends (Wiseman, Jeffries) vs. Oakland Soldiers

10:30 a.m. Seattle Rotary (Jaden McDaniels) vs. Houston Hoops (Tyrese Maxey) (This matchup features two super athletic teams and Maxey and McDaniels can do it all)

Noon: Indy Heat (Keion Brooks) vs. E1T1 (Brooks is UK’s top priority on the wing in the 2019 class)

Noon: Drive Nation (Cade Cunningham) vs. Team United

6 p.m.- Seattle Rotary (Jaden McDaniels) vs. Mokan Elite (N’Faly Dante)(We’ll be seeing plenty of McDaniels but he will have all he can handle against the younger Dante)

7:30 p.m. Nike Team Florida (Carey, Barnes, Farrakhan) vs. E1T1

7:30 p.m. PSA Cardinals (Cole Anthony) vs. Team United

7:30 p.m. Renaissance (Lecque, Morton, Cockburn) vs. Pro Skills (Somewhat of a weak slate of 7:30 games but Lecque and the gang will be fun to watch)

9 p.m. Bluff City Legends (Wiseman, Jeffries) vs. Indy Heat (Keion Brooks) (Wiseman and Jeffries should have a big advantage inside, but we’ll see how tough Brooks is against those bigs)

9 p.m. Houston Hoops (Tyrese Maxey) vs. Drive Nation (Cade Cunningham)

Friday:

9 a.m. Renaissance (Lecque, Morton, Cockburn) vs. Expressions Elite

9 a.m. Seattle Rotary (Jaden McDaniels) vs. PSA Cardinals (Cole Anthony) (You can never see enough of Cole Anthony. Great passer and great scorer)

9 a.m. Nike Team Florida (Carey, Barnes, Farrakhan) vs. Oakland Soldiers

10:30 a.m. Bluff City Legends (Wiseman, Jeffries) vs. E1T1 (No great matchups in the 10:30 games but I’ll be curious to see how Jeffries handles the big stage)

10:30 a.m. Houston Hoops (Tyrese Maxey) vs. Team United

Noon: Indy Heat (Keion Brooks) vs. Team Takeover (I’m partial to the 2019 guys over 2020, so Brooks is the play at noon)

Noon: Mokan Elite (N’Faly Dante) vs. Drive Nation (Cade Cunningham)

6 p.m. PSA Cardinals (Cole Anthony) vs. Drive Nation (Cade Cunningham) (Only 6 p.m. game worth watching)

7:30 p.m. Nike Team Florida (Carey, Barnes, Farrakhan) vs. Indy Heat (Keion Brooks) (Barnes vs. Brooks will be a must-see matchup)

7:30 p.m. Team United vs. Seattle Rotary (Jaden McDaniels)

7:30 p.m. Renaissance (Lecque, Morton, Cockburn) vs. City Rocks

9 p.m. Bluff City Legends (Wiseman, Jeffries) vs. Team Takeover

9 p.m. Houston Hoops (Tyrese Maxey) vs. Mokan Elite (N’Faly Dante) (Last game before the tournament. Let’s see Maxey go against the best big in 2020)

The knockout stage starts Saturday with the quarterfinals. The top two teams in each pool will advance.

When you tear out a man’s tongue, you are not proving him a liar, you’re only telling the world that you fear what he might say.

Hey TJ, when did UK offer Cole Anthony?!? Thought that would’ve been bigger news.
