YAHTZEE! 3-star CB Yusuf Corker commits to Kentucky

Well how about this for a late Christmas gift? According to Justin Rowland, 3-star cornerback Yusuf Corker just committed to Kentucky, picking the Cats over Tennessee, South Carolina, and Michigan State. Tennessee was thought to be the favorite for the 6-0, 185 lbs. corner from Stockbridge, Georgia, but Kentucky apparently made an impression on Corker on his official visit to Lexington on December 9:

Corker, the cousin of former Cat Raymond Sanders, is considered the 38th best corner in the country, and is now the 22nd commitment in Kentucky’s rapidly improving 2017 class, which has gained eight members since the win over Louisville and now ranks 19th in the country according to Rivals.

    Welcome aboard, Mr. Corker!!

Mr. Corker definitely has some wheels.

The term “YAHTZEE!” should be reserved for 4 star and above commitments. We’re celebrating 3 star players while most of the rest of the SEC is celebrating 4 and 5 star players…

    To “Big bored Cupcake”:
Yes I know that 2 and 3 star players sometimes develop into great players, but those are the exceptions rather than the rule…

As UK Big Board has already pointed out, Lamar Jackson was a 3 star player that’s done alright in college so far! Randall Cobb was a 2 star coming out of Alcoa, Tennessee. I think he did alright in college as well!

Football and basketball recruiting is an inexact science at best. There are always going to be 4 and 5 players that don’t live up to the hype (i.e. Morgan Newton). And there are always going to be 2 and 3 star kids who exceed expectations (i.e. Randall Cobb).
