YAHTZEE! 2018 Offensive Lineman Quintin Wilson Commits to Kentucky

Cincinnati center Quintin Wilson has committed to Kentucky.  The 6’3″ 290-pound three-star recruit used his commitment as a gift to his mom on Mother’s Day.

Considered the No. 8 center in the country, the Walnut Hills High School star chose Kentucky over Duke, Virginia, Cincinnati and Minnesota.  Wilson becomes the third offensive lineman in the eight-man 2018 class and the fourth from the state of Ohio.  247 Sports hasn’t bumped UK’s ’18 class to No. 22, third in the SEC.

John Schlarman will get to work with the nation’s No. 32 offensive tackle, Darian Kinnard, the nation’s No. 4 offensive guard, Marquan McCall, and the nation’s No. 8 center, Quintin Wilson.  Watch Wilson do work:

Keep em coming! Our commitment and ability to bring in quality Olineman is astounding. In 37 years of being a U.K. football fan, I’ve never seen anything like this. Kudos to the staff for executing. Now let’s start seeing similar results on the Dline.

There’s no doubt in my mind that having Coach Cal and such constant and universal b-ball exposure can lead to accompanying football success. Stoops stands to benefit greatly and can really build something at UK if he can keep winning and keep their core staff together for a while.

The quality of recruiting in all aspects has continued to improve with stoops. We have guys transfer that we thought were day and night talents to jokers recruits. Some before they ever saw the field be cause stoops could afford to redshirt them. Ky football over recruiting? Keep it coming stoops. I liked the new offensive coordinator last year, I hope he has found us a good defensive coordinator. We seem to be finding the talent on the field.

Just a thought that I would like to hear some others thoughts or point of views. We have lost a few to Alabama, and others schools, but not the troys and Toledos of the past. Damion Harris to Alabama, forget the QB we lost. But we held onto Matt Elam. He hasn’t impressed here. Would he have become a better player had he drank the crimson tide and headed to Tuscaloosa?

Probably not, not to rag on the guy but I’ve been around him and know people who went to high school with him, and he’s pretty lazy. Dominated in high school due to his size only

Just like Drew Barker who was widely lauded as a 4-star guy. Sometimes players don’t pan out. The key to football is depth. Alabama goes 3-4 deep at every position with 4-5 star guys. Typically our second/third teamers have been 0-star guys or walkons. Eventually success begets success, but only with sufficient numbers to correct for the misses.
