Three UK Football players earn preseason All-SEC honors

The Preseason All-SEC Teams were also released this morning and three Cats made the list. Junior defensive end/linebacker Denzil Ware was named second-team defense, while junior safety Mike Edwards and junior linebacker Jordan Jones were named to the third team. No Kentucky players made the offense or specialists All-SEC teams.

Ware ranked second on the team in total sacks (5.5) and tackles for loss (12.0) last year. Meanwhile, Edwards led all SEC defensive backs in tackles in 2016 with 100 and was one of just six players overall in the league with 100 or more tackles on the season. Jones was given second-team defense honors last season after leading the SEC in solo tackles per game (5.7). Overall, he led UK and ranked third in the league in total tackles per game with 8.4. He finished the season with 109 tackles and led the Wildcats with 15.5 tackles for loss.

So, let me get this straight…Jones led the SEC in solo tackles and was given postseason Second Team All-SEC honors by the AP and coaches but only made the third team?? Those media hacks don’t know anything! Right, Jordan Jones?

Check out all of the selections below:

I hope Jordan uses this as fuel to rip running backs in half.

Just keep dis-respecting Benny Snell. He’ll show you.

  3. J-Dub421

Putting Edwards and Jones on the 3rd team is an insult.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWW. The returning SEC leading tackler and tackler for loss and you stick him on 3rd team. What a freaking JOKE!

What the heck man. #KentuckyEffect going the wrong way for football. :-/

Looks like Bo Scarbrough is gonna be the “man” at Alabama. Too bad for Damien Harris.

We need to beat Tennessee and Florida this year! Jones on the 3rd team is laughable. He is one of the best linebackers in the country.

I like the fact we are the underdogs again!
