Pregame concerts coming back to Kroger Field

If you enjoyed the pregame parking lot music before Kentucky football games last season, you’re in luck: it will be back this coming season.

UK announced its Kentucky Football Pregame Concert Series will return in 2018 with local musical acts playing before each home game. The performer for UK’s season opener will be decided by the “Opening Act” contest to take place this summer.

To submit your local band or your favorite local band, fill out the form at UKathletics.com/openingact or shoot an e-mail to [email protected] with the following information:

Band name
Hometown(s)
Main point of contact
List of band member names and instruments
Band social media handles
Link to YouTube or similar video of live performance

The release from UK notes the performer(s) must create a family-friendly atmosphere at each pregame concert, so don’t apply if your lyrics and/or show are for mature audiences only.

Nominations will be accepted through June 22 and then it will be put to a vote online.

Concerts will once again be held on the plaza outside Gate 12.

Go Cats.

Sturgill Simpson, hands down the most talented Country music artist on The Planet. But since he tells it like it is, they won’t play him on the radio.
