NFL stars throwing shade at UK Football online

One of our favorite moments from Kentucky football over the last five or so years is currently being mocked on Twitter by anyone and everyone, including some of the NFL’s biggest stars.

The Checkdown, a popular football Twitter account, shared a video of the Cats’ special teams unit dancing before a third-quarter kickoff in the South Carolina win in 2014, to ask, “If you’re the return team, are you intimidated by this?”

The dance sparked the comeback that gave UK its second win over South Carolina in 15 years, which has since become a four-game win streak; it also made “Grove St. Party” the unofficial theme song for the program. JD Harmon, one of the participants, said afterward, “That was the loudest I’ve ever heard that stadium. It felt literally like the whole stadium was rocking.”

But two-time Pro Bowl safety Landon Collins, a former Alabama star, said he isn’t intimidated “because it’s Kentucky.”

Kansas City Chiefs Pro-Bowler Tyreek Hill simply tweeted, “Nope.”

Several other replies suggest it would be intimidating if it were any other school but Kentucky.

I guess South Carolina sure was intimidated. They haven’t beat us since that moment.

    1. BBNDan7

They literally scored on that possession so I would argue they weren’t lol

    2. cats646

I guess you do have a point there.

    3. BBNDan7

The moment was awesome and I still got chills watching it, but it’s effect didn’t do much on the actual field lol

    Gave me chill umps

I love that people say stuff like this about Kentucky, because I know Benny snell will see it and absolutely do something about it. I cannot wait for this season!!!!! #provethemwrong!!

  4. KTR2786

Well this is ridiculous; of course the Cats couldn’t take on an NFL team! Silly NFL players.

  5. Mad Catter

Who said it was meant to intimidate? A song popular at the time comes over the PA system and they dance while the kicker tees the ball. I think that’s called “having fun,” not “intimidation.”

  6. cats646

If Kentucky wants to intimidate anyone all we have to do is hand Benny the ball. Don’t care what the other team says, if Benny is running, they’re scared.

    1. My Dixie Wrecked

Yeah, Benny being ranked 82nd in yards per carry is intimidating as hell.

    2. jaws2

Smell is one of the premier running backs in THE premier conference. You are obviously ‘wrecked’ in Dixie! Oh, and obviously know zip about quality college football players.

    3. cats646

      Bless your heart limp d!ck.

    4. ziplock

Dixie, the way you keep talking the fake narrative in the face of facts you should apply at CNN

    5. truebluefootballfan

My Dixie would be on a dirty bird fan site but no one will bother starting one bc they would just take it down too haha

there are a lot of examples you could use to make fun of kentucky football. but this is not one of them. that was awesome. anybody that says otherwise is just fooling themselves.

    1. unbridled

I completely agree. I don’t care that they were dancing. It was obviously not going to be intimidating. Kentucky football has a lot to hang their head about….but this isn’t one of them.

  8. JD

I wouldn’t expect an NFL player to be intimidated by a college program.

    1. cats646

If that NFL player was on South Carolinas team during that game, I’d bet a lot of money he would’ve been very intimidated.

Kentucky football is about as intimidating as a poodle at a dogfight

  11. Headhurts

Yeah maybe their right, but they all wanna be us in basketball……

    1. The Big Lebowski

Probably not Villanova, Duke or UNC. lol

Cal needs to get another Championship.

    2. runningunnin.454

Villanova, Duke, and UNC NCAA titles…3, 5, and 6. Where have you been? Only UCLA has more, and they’re irrelevant today.

Yep, he is a model citizen. Just like the vast majority of these overpaid activists.

  15. ClutchCargo

It was a fun moment for any UK fan in attendance. Who gives a shit what anyone says 4 years later.

  16. notFromhere

UK fans need to not care what anyone thinks and stay geeked up for their team, win or lose. I know I don’t care what anyone says. If these dumbasses actually played for USC it might be slightly interesting what they say about being there. As it is, it’s just more jerks making comments when no one cares what comes outta their mouths

  17. The Big Lebowski

Until Kentucky Football proves that it is relevant, this will be the reaction.

Kentucky starts winning 9 to 12 games a year, folks will take them seriously.

Until then…don’t whine that people call you what you are.

    1. wyatts1

UK fans aren’t “whining dumba$$” this from 4 years ago doesn’t mean a thing today. We’re a basketball school, wanna do better in football and things are turning around slowly but until then we’ll just stomp those schools in basketball ?? twattwaffle

  18. runningunnin.454

Four years ago? They’re a little slow, aren’t they? A leukotomy is a terrible thing.

  19. 4everUKblue

I bleed blue and love all things UK, but I have to say there is nothing about UK football that is intimidating and there has not been for many many years. So why do we set ourselves up like this?
