Kentucky’s defensive coordinator has had one hell of a year. He could end it holding one of the nation’s most prestigious college football awards.
Matt House has been nominated for the Broyles Award, given each year to the top assistant in college football. One of 53 nominees, in just his second year as Kentucky’s defensive coordinator, he’s turned UK’s defense into one of the best in America. Kentucky has the nation’s No. 8 scoring defense, seventeenth-ranked pass defense and the SEC’s top sacker, Josh Allen.
The winner of the Broyles Award will be announced December 4.
House is one of many Wildcats on short lists for postseason awards. They’re on so many, it’s hard to keep track. Yesterday Benny Snell was named a semifinalist for the CFBA National Performer of the Year, an award based purely on a scientific ranking system. You can find more on that honor here.
House will be speaking with the media shortly following Wednesday’s practice. Stay tuned for updates.
