In March, linebacker Eli Brown announced he was transferring to Western Kentucky for family reasons. Even though NCAA rules typically require players to sit out a year after transferring, The Bowling Green Daily News’ Brad Stephens is reporting Brown will be eligible to play this fall for the Hilltoppers:
Per sources, Kentucky transfer and former Warren East HS star Eli Brown will be immediately eligible to play this season for Western Kentucky. Linebacker has 2 years to play, starting in 2018.

Excellent news. As a redshirt sophomore in 2017, Brown played in 12 games, totaling 38 tackles, two tackles for loss and one pass deflection on the season. His biggest performance came in the road win at South Carolina, when he made six tackles and one big stop for a loss while filling in for the injured Jordan Jones.
In May, Larry Vaught interviewed Brown about his decision to leave UK, which he says he’s doing to help care for his three younger siblings following the passing of his mother a few years ago.
Best of luck to him in Bowling Green. We’ll be cheering for him.
