Denzil Ware will Transfer to Jacksonville State

Former Kentucky defensive end/linebacker Denzil Ware will finish his college career close to home.  Ware announced on his private Instagram account that he will play his final season at Jacksonville State.

Ware graduated from UK last week and will be eligible to play immediately.  A native of Opp, Alabama, the OVC school is just four hours from his hometown.

The first four-star prospect signed by Mark Stoops, Ware finished his three-year Kentucky career with 13 sacks, 157 tackles and 57 for loss.

Not exactly the Badet transfer strategy.

  2. Brutal Hustler

Hmmmm. Methinks this was less of him choosing to transfer on his own volition, and more a “You don’t have to go (four hours from) home, but you can’t stay here” from Stoops and Co

  3. JohnnyCheeseSticks

Stoops: If you stay, you can’t throw trash cans at people anymore.
    Ware: Bye, Felicia.

Best of Luck to you, Denzil. Always a Cat.

    1. Cousins Fake Tooth

Nope. Always a cat don’t transfer.

    2. BBNDan7

He played for four years and got his degree from UK. He’s always a cat.

      Troll !!! Troll !!! A$$hole !!!

Couple things to consider on always a cat. If he left on his own, he is not a cat, unless it was for family emergency situation. Especially waiting so long and taking all the spring reps from guys that will be here. If forced out for behavior, not a cat. I find it hard to believe the staff would punish him for last years episode yet let him play all spring, take away reps from others, then say you can’t play unless something new happened on the bad behavior front.

I believe Jax St is still D1AA, so he could have played right away at that level regardless if the rules haven’t changed.

Fun fact: this is where Josh Clemons transferred to also.

    1. chris gettelfinger is not walking through that door

Yes, according to Wikipedia, they are still 1AA (technically “FCS” as it’s called now), so as far as I know you can still transfer down a level and play right away.

    2. gwhittle

He could play right away anywhere. He’s a grad transfer

    3. chris gettelfinger is not walking through that door

I know. That was my point. Roush said “Ware graduated from UK last week and will be eligible to play immediately“, but ANYONE can transfer down a division and play immediately.

BTW, there was one other player besides Clemons who transferred to Jax State but I forgot his name. It was just a year or 2 ago, and we were depending on him to anchor the D line that year.

    Who cares.

It IS news, and it’s a slow time of the year otherwise.

Apparently you because you keep commenting.

Makes sense. Go there and actually compete for a title…even though at a lower level. Plus, be big man on campus for a year. Can’t really blame him.

    1. ClutchCargo

Actually, that doesn’t make any sense at all for a guy who was a big-time prospect and became an excellent player in the SEC. It only makes sense if he had few options at this point, and I think it’s pretty obvious that is the case.

  8. Wade

Told y’all small school to put up big numbers. He was not one of our best 2 de should have moved him to outside lb.

  9. UKInsider

JSU does offer a Masters in Public Administration for Environmental Science Management. Ware probably transferred to study the impacts of garbage cans and recycling bins upon community development. Thesis: SEC cans vs. D1AA.

    1. chris gettelfinger is not walking through that door

Now that is funny. I lol’d.

    2. Greatcatfan

JST told him FCS bylaws state you can use foreign objects as long as you major in their field and use them in a matter at least partially consistent with their nature. In other words as long as he majors in some form of waste management and picks up trash as he goes he can imagine Lamar is at every game.

  10. RackEmWillie

This seems like he didn’t want to leave, but was instead told to leave. His level of competition won’t be what it was at UK, so whatever numbers he puts up don’t really matter all that much.

    What a ducking moron

  12. UKFootballYall

I’ve unfortunately been to the JSU campus briefly, no one wants to go there unless they have no other options. Translation: it was not his choice more than likely.

  13. StuckinLville

Jacksonville St? See, I still believe something is going on with ghe coaching staff. Why else would he transer to a non power conference school?
