Aaron Torres Sports Podcast Ep. 66: Urban Meyer fallout + DJ Jeffries’ dad

The Aaron Torres Sports Podcast is back, and there is no shortage of big news, with Aaron breaking down the biggest story in sports: The continuing saga surrounding Urban Meyer. Aaron talks about that, D.J. Jeffries’ dad’s surprise comments and proposed changes to college basketball. The conversation starts with…

Urban Meyer’s future at Ohio State: Aaron gives you the latest update on Urban Meyer. How much did he know about his assistant coach’s domestic violence incident, and why is Meyer’s wife  the key to the whole story. Is it possible that she knew about the incident, but that her husband didn’t? And could that ultimately be what saves Meyer’s job?

D.J. Jeffries dad: Next, Aaron dives into the bizarre comments by D.J. Jeffries dad on Tuesday. After Jeffries’ dad says that his son was upset Kentucky wasn’t at his AAU games, is it better for both parties to just go their separate ways?

Finally, changes to AAU basketball: Finally, Aaron explains the new changes that are coming to AAU basketball – and why they won’t do anything to change the sport the way the NCAA wants.

Aaron Torres Sports Podcast Ep. 65 – DJ Jeffries decommits + the joys of Top Golf

An all-new Aaron Torres Sports Podcast is live, as Aaron is joined by his buddy Nick Coffey. The two guys catch up on a lot from last week, including the Aaron Torres Sports Podcast’s appearance on “Around the Horn” – then they get into the biggest topics of the day, including:

D.J. Jeffries decommits from Kentucky: The guys break down the surprising decommitment of D.J. Jeffries from Kentucky. What does it mean for Kentucky? And is it a sign that Penny Hardaway has truly arrived as threat in recruiting? Also, what does Jeffries’ decommitment mean for the recruitment of James Wiseman and Aaron explains why it isn’t time for Wildcats fans to worry just yet.

The emergence of LeBron James Jr.: This weekend served as the “coming out party” for LeBron James Jr. in his first major AAU tournament. Still, after one national reporter claimed that LeBron Jr. will go down as “the most covered high school player” the guys aren’t sure they believe it – and explain why.

Finally, the guys wrap up some odds and ends from around the sports world: They discuss John Wall’s recruitment of Dwight Howard – and Aaron explains why he doesn’t buy Dwight’s story. There’s a little “Last Chance U” talk, and Aaron explains why Top Golf is the single best entertainment experience out there.

Aaron Torres Sports Podcast Ep. 64: College Football Over/Unders + John Wall Breaks the Internet

It’s a new episode of the Aaron Torres Sports Podcast, as coming off a big week in which the show was featured on “Around the Horn,” Aaron rides solo here. He closes out the week by talking about his favorite over/under bets in college football and a few other stories that caught his attention – including John Wall getting wild. Here are today’s topics:

Aaron’s favorite over/under win totals: After covering college football for years, Aaron shares his favorite over/under win totals heading into the 2018 college football season. He explains why one Pac-12 team is a lock to hit their “over” and why he’s worried about one SEC West school. Also, why he’s out on Notre Dame!

John Wall breaks the internet: Next up, Aaron talks about the photo that darn near broke the internet – John Wall’s photo at Team USA mini-camp. Aaron explains why it’s hard to blame John Wall, and why he’s had many nights like it in Vegas. Are you really having fun in Vegas if you don’t wake up looking exactly like that?

Finally, some other odds and ends: Aaron hits on an ESPN poll that names the “best” college football team of the last 20 years – and why it was absolutely, 100 percent wrong. Also the amazingly relatable story of the DMV worker who got caught sleeping on the job – for four years straight!
