What did John Calipari do when asked about Hamidou Diallo today?

Over the weekend, five-star shooting guard Hamidou Diallo announced he will be enrolling at Kentucky this semester, and predictably, it came up in today’s press conference. A reporter slyly asked if Calipari had any new players in the gym during practice this afternoon. His response?

“Not yet. Not yet. Not yet,” Cal said before turning to Eric Lindsey, the Associate Director of Media Relations. “Am I allowed to talk about this?”

When Eric replied no, Cal quipped playfully, “Who are we talking about?”

Laughs all around!

With the team leaving for Nashville tonight, it’s safe to assume Diallo will arrive on campus upon their return on Wednesday or Thursday, meaning he’ll be on Kentucky’s sideline as soon as the Auburn game this weekend.

Until then, we’ll just live vicariously through that gleam in Calipari’s eye…

Tyler, Hope he gets to play tomm.night against Vandy. JUST KIDDING but it’s coming.

I would have thought Diallo would have signed and sent in his LOI already, giving the coaches permission to speak about him? Unless spring enrollees have different rules applied to them?

Not a signing period so he can’t sign an NLI. Can’t speak about him until he is enrolled (probably already is) and has gone to a class.
