Updated Odds to Win the 2019 College Basketball National Championship

Shortly after the Cats suffered a lopsided loss at the hands of Duke, the favorites fell to 7/1.  Even though they have not lost since, they’ve taken a backseat to the competition.  Kentucky is now seventh at 16/1 to win the 2019 National Championship.

I disagree with the so called experts on what determines UK’s season.

Imho, as the PG play goes for the Wildcats, so goes their season.

Haagans has to improve and be able to penetrate on a consistent basis, finishing at the rim or dishing out for an open shot. There are no other players capable of taking that responsibility.

Nick needs to rewrite this article so it makes sense….
Specific edits needed for clarity include 11/11/12, they, and fell.

Actually, I don’t think the 1 is so important on this team or in basketball any longer. Yes, you need a great handler against the press and against a great on ball defender but every player on this team, with one exception, has enough of a handle, dribble penetration and passing skills to create their own shot and to create shots for others. In Cal’s “actions” as opposed to plays oriented scheme, I can see this team having an efficient offense without a 1 on the floor. Where Hagans is starting to earn his minutes is through being a true lock down on ball defender. On offense, he needs to be a facilitator and operate within the offense enough to keep defenses honest.

Duke will not win the championship. They will face a veteran team that will pack it inside forcing Duke to chuck it up from the outside. One game they will be cold and lose. Just like the Wall-Cousins UK team. Duke won’t win it all.

I think this team will do better flying under the radar.
