This afternoon, the Wildcats delivered packed lunches and participated in physical activities with students at Picadome Elementary School as a part of the UK Athletics’ God’s Pantry program.
Kevin Knox, Wenyen Gabriel, Hamidou Diallo, Jarred Vanderbilt, Jemarl Baker, Tai Wynyard, and Jonny David were the seven Wildcats participating in the event.
The team played “Duck, Duck, Goose,” competed in relay races, ran a full-court game, and showed off some impressive dunks for the kids.

Beyond Picadome Elementary, the team also went to Cassidy and Lansdowne Elementary throughout the day to deliver lunches.
According to a release by UK Athletics, this event is just one of several the entire athletic department will be participating in throughout the year for God’s Pantry.
This is the eighth consecutive year that UK Athletics has partnered with God’s Pantry of Lexington to help pack and distribute food-filled grocery bags to kids across Fayette County. By the end of the 2017-18 school year, 5,700 lunches will be delivered.
As part of the program, UK Athletics packs 160 bags each week. Each team and staff at UK Athletics participates in the outreach program. The men’s basketball team will deliver lunches to Cassidy, Lansdowne and Picadome elementary schools throughout the day Friday.
Jarred Vanderbilt and Wenyen Gabriel spoke to the media following the event on the fun they had, personal experiences from their childhood, and the impact they hope they made on the kids in attendance.
Keep making us proud, guys.
