The Southeastern Conference named Tyler Herro its SEC Freshman of the Week this week, Herro’s third time winning the award this season.
Herro was selected as the league’s best rook following a week in which he averaged a team-high-tying 18 points, 5.5 rebounds, two assists and two steals per game in wins over Ole Miss and Florida. He shot 60.9 percent from the floor, 40 percent from outside and was perfect from the free-throw line on six attempts.
With this week’s award, Herro tied Keldon Johnson for the league-high with three SEC Freshman of the Week honors apiece. Ashton Hagans won two SEC Freshman of the Week awards to give Kentucky eight for the season, the most in the league.
