The Ball Family is Finished with College Basketball

Two Big Ballers will never see a college basketball court.

Days after Lavar Ball pulled LiAngelo out of UCLA, the controversial family patriarch told ESPN’s Jeff Goodman that his two youngest sons will sign with an agent and play overseas.  By signing with Lonzo’s agent, LaMelo and LiAngelo will no longer be amateurs and end any chance they had at playing college basketball.

“I don’t care about the money,” LaVar Ball said on Thursday morning. “I want them to go somewhere where they will play them together on the court at the same time. The priority is for the boys to play on the same team.”

They may play on the same team, but they will not succeed overseas.  Evan Daniels criticized the move on The Aaron Torres Sports Podcast and wrote “it’s not realistic” for either of them to work their way into the NBA without college.

Lavar Ball has become a consistent headline grabber, but by taking his sons overseas where they simply don’t have enough skill to succeed on the court, he has backed his way into a dead end street with no way out.

This is fantastic; Lavar will fade to obscurity faster and his sons will have more time to style their eyebrows.

That’s actually the plan. He knows his sons are not professional basketball caliber, but with the limelight, they would have failed spectacularly in ESPN headlines. This way, they kids get to just fade away. And Lavar still has his little Laker to keep him in the headlines.

Don’t let the door hit you in your arrogant azz on the way out Mr. Ball. I think you’ve known all along Ball #2 and Ball #3 will never have NBA talent.

the middle brother sucks. but i thought the youngest was supposed to be the best of the three.

Lamelo wouldn’t have made it to the league anyway. Most NBA teams require their guards to cross half-court on defense and that’s not an element of his game

His shooting is atrocious from what I’ve seen, I don’t think he has the work ethic to make it in the NBA.

Somewhere, Steve Alford is doing fist pumps and high fiving total strangers.

    1. Wilfred Smith

      It was Alford’s idea.

So he’s sending them overseas so they can play on the same team. Do they have any say in their lives or do they just do what he tells them to? I hope the youngest emancipates himself and they all keep their finances out of this fame whore idiot’s hands.

Maybe they’ll do it stuff just so he’ll shut up? I think we could put a successful kickstarter together to literally pay him to go away and never come back, so I can’t imagine what being his kid must be like

Can we just send LaVar over to China and let the kids live their lives out as they see fit here in the States?

This is hands down the best thing to happen to UCLA basketball since John Wooden stepped on campus. Heck, it might be the best thing to happen to college basketball since the introduction of the 3-point shot.

This is sort of like recruiting a 3 star senior in the hopes of getting their best friend a 5 star to join. He’s essentially packaging them together since the middle one is average in the hopes someone will sign him because it wouldn’t happen individually; at the risk of possibly sabotaging the other. Good work Lavar. Good work. LOL.

    Oh happy day!

  9. JaredCarterIsMyHomeboy

LeVar Ball was created for Chinese sports media.

They will have to do some scouting to find a country whose punishment for shoplifting does not include the cutting off of body parts.

David Pick on Bleacher Report gives a decent analysis on why it’s going to be hard for the Ball circus to succeed overseas….if you’re interested.

So LaVar is just going to take his Ball and go home? I’m here all week, and don’t forget to tip your server.

  13. CatsfaninFL

I kinda feel bad for the kids. But I’m really hoping he goes to live with them overseas

Does this mean I’m gonna have to read the sports section of some third world country newspaper to get my Lavar Ball fix? That’s sarcasm for those who don’t recognize it. Good F’n riddance!

“I don’t care about the money,”

Ha! It’s always about the money…
