Still not done? Calipari teases more good news to come

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

John Calipari picked up two five-star commitments in two days, and he might not be done.

After landing the No. 1 point guard in the 2019 class on Tuesday, Calipari sent out a tweet that reads like more could be on the way in the near future.

“No one truly knows what we are doing until it’s done,” Cal tweeted. “Finished yet?”

I can say with confidence there are two players on Calipari’s radar who could still join next year’s roster. He may not need either one of them, but if another current Wildcat were to leave, Calipari has more tricks up his sleeve to fill out his team.

So, my guess is no to Calipari’s “finished yet?” tweet. I expect more roster shakeups to come.

Most perfect tweet all week! It’s gotta be in the top 10! Did Jeff Goodman get a copy of this? lol

Drew, who are the two targets you confidently think are on Cal’s radar? I’m assuming one is James Wiseman… is the other Brandon Williams?

    1. Jiminy Crickets

Nope one is a 2019 guard from Ny, the other is a big guy that’s going to grad transfer.
When Hami announces today, his name will pop up, and he to will reclassify
The grad transfer is waiting to see what happens with Gabriel, vando, and PJ

I said this this morning, and got a bunch of crap for it. It’s fluid, but likely

    2. Jiminy Crickets

Didn’t mean to say Hami would announce TODAY. Sorry

    3. Jiminy Crickets

Lecque is the guy in question. Jefferies shot down reclass rumors

    4. Jiminy Crickets

Reid Travis is the grad transfer in question

    5. a21CATSfan

Or DJ Jeffries could reclassify as well.

Coach K in the fetal position, yes!

Love the tweet. My first reaction to the video was that’s hilarious until I realized that was when K collapsed a few years ago… nothing serious but I feel like it’s in bad taste. Too far. Drew, might want to check the journalistic standards on that one.

It’s a blog, and the standard is right at the top of the page: “…in the most ridiculous manner possible.”

    2. Bobbum Man

Yeah I’ve seen it used before like this and neve cared for it, but it’s ksr lol, you get what ya get. I know we’d be up in arms if it were cal collapsing and people using it for a gif

      I thought it was hysterical.

    Zion?

To me this is not good news. I’d take our current guys over replacements any day. I’m okay with Knox and SGA going, but when others start dropping off, it’s rebuilding all over again. Wenyen started showing massive improvement toward the end of the season, a second (third, fourth) year Quade could be really good, you have to think Richards, PJ, Vando make big jumps. I’ll be excited for whoever we get, just wish some of these guys that aren’t one and done would stick around.

    1. secrick

We got plenty coming back it looks like, so don’t worry.

    2. chrisg18

I second this. Last year taught us that you just can’t win with ALL freshman (see us and Duke). Gotta have some older guys mixed in. If we lose basically our whole roster from this past season we will be starting from scratch again and who knows how it will go. I am guessing we will be better with the talent we will be bringing in, but a year ago everyone thought Hami and Richards would be studs, so who knows.

  7. Smyrna_Cat

Which two players? Obviously James W is one …

    1. AllBlueAllDay

The names I’ve heard on boards, is 2019 SG Maxey, and the Stanford big man. Drawing a blank on his name. He just declared but isn’t signing an agent. Dude is built like a mac truck.

    2. Jiminy Crickets

And obviously you would be wrong, but we’re used to it

    3. Jiminy Crickets

      Not directed at you allblue

  8. Ez21

I’d really like to have Daum from SD state I think it is. Whoever played Ohio st in rd 1 of the tourny.

  9. makeitstop

It’s not beyond Cal to steal a commitment who hasn’t signed… Terrence Jones. But SKJ, SGA and Herro were all committed elsewhere albeit as juniors. So until they sign the papers they could flip.

  10. Smyrna_Cat

I believe they all re-opened their recruiting. In terms of Jones, I believe he is the one that called Cal.

    1. makeitstop

I may be wrong but I think SKJ waited about as long after decommitting as u would to start dating after breaking up: can u still see the tail lights?

  11. blueblue

Could Cal be referring to James Wiseman reclassifying to 2018? Wow!! What a recruiting class that would be!!!

  12. dballrb

Maxey…Would take him,but how many gaurds do we need? Could play 4 gaurd lineup and run the other teams to death grabbing trunks by the under 12 TO of second half.
