Quade Green shines in UK’s win over East Tennessee

Kentucky moved to 3-1 tonight with a 78-61 win over the visiting East Tennessee State Buccaneers in the first game of the Adolph Rupp Classic.

Quade Green was your MVP after leading all scorers with 21 points in the game, which is the most a Wildcat has scored in any game this season. He was 9-for-13 from the field and 3-for-5 from outside the arc.

Kevin Knox also had a nice game offensively with 17 points of his own. Then there is P.J. Washington, who bounced back from a bad game against Kansas with 12 points and eight rebounds, although turnovers were still a huge problem for him.

Probably the worst freethrow shooting game I’ve ever seen by a uk team but other than that I think we played pretty well, also SKJ should be starting no doubt.

And this year we have actually been a pretty good FT shooting team

    SKJ>NR right now

      And it’s not even close

Offense still has a LONG way to go…and the free throw shooting? Words can’t describe how putrid it is.

Going to cost them games down the road.

      Agree. There’s NO EXCUSE for 3 – 15…

And point guard Green is way overrated – a big letdown to what we’ve had over the past 2 years…

    Slaters expert analysis:
-Nice play from Quade. If hes gonna stink on defense atleast score some points
-This team isnt a very good free throw shooting team. Gotta take PJ out in close games at the end
-they shoot too many 3’s for a team that cant shoot well
    -stop the slow starts
This team is a 4-9 seed kinda team. 4 seed is probably the ceiling.

Um, they were 9/16 from 3, dumbass. That’s a damn good percentage, and certainly not “too many shots” from that range.

Alexander has an outstanding motor and competes on both ends. .MKG-ish.

    Good call Kevin C

P.J. Washington is a lazy player, watched him walk around on the court way too much, and for as many steals Alexander gets he has turnovers, once he gets that under control he’s gonna be a nice player though

I don’t think PJ’s lazy. He just looked tired tonight to me. I think he’s way better than he’s shown so far…

PJ likes to pose after a put back, instead of getting back on D. Cal had to yell at him to run not jog.

…and Hami flirted with the NBA. Nick has to do something ; anything, i mean help us out! Lumberjack gonna steal his minutes. SKJ is my guy right now. Showing he wants it!

I don’t even know why Diallo gets the starts. He’s not that good. If anything he’s a poor man’s Malik Monk right now. His defense is suspect, he doesn’t have a jumper, and when he drives the lane he lowers his shoulder. Starting line up next game needs to be Quade, Shai, Knox, PJ, and SKJ. I think Quade and Shai play better out there together. Quade will be a better scorer and Shai has the length to be a better defender, especially once he starts taking better care of the ball. Btw they need to have a whole practice or boxing out. They can’t get consistent rebounds because they jump ball for each one instead of gaining position once the shot goes up.
