Peach Jam 2018 Nike EYBL Live Updates

KSR basketball recruiting expert TJ Walker is in his element right now at Peach Jam, where Kentucky coaches are watching some of the top prospects in America compete against one another.

Throughout the night and the rest of the week, KSR will be giving you exclusive interviews and inside information from the top recruiting event of the year.

For tonight, here’s a running diary with all the notes and highlights you’d ever need:

2019 Kentucky commit Tyrese Maxey just battled, and won, against top point guard and UK target Cole Anthony.

You can check out the ridiculous comeback and finish here:

Tyrese Maxey caps off ridiculous comeback to tip-off Peach Jam

Kenny Payne and Joel Justus checking out Jaden McDaniel, keeping in contact with the top-five power forward in the class of 2019.

TJ update: “Coach Cal isn’t watching because he’s checking out wing target Keion Brooks.”

Note from TJ on McDaniels, 8:04 p.m.:

“Justus and Payne are watching Jaden McDaniels. I’m hearing UK has been in contact a few times a week and McDaniels has spoken highly of Kentucky. This is my first time watching him but he’s really long and lanky. Not a lot of muscle at all.”

8:12 p.m. update:

Another 2019 Kentucky commit, DJ Jeffries, has been putting on a show with three coaches in attendance. His Bluff City Legends, featuring UK target James Wiseman, took on Nike Team Florida (Vernon Carey, Scottie Barnes).

@TJWalkerKSR: UK rolling three deep with Justus, Payne and Calipari. They’re watching Wiseman, Jeffries, Carey and Barnes.

@TJWalkerKSR: UK commit DJ Jeffries is lengthy and strong.

Update from @TJWalkerKSR:

“DJ Jeffries with the runout slam. Dude just glides in transition.”

“Vernon Carey with a nasty slam. Inbounds is stolen and he does it again. Jeffries comes down with a pretty floater to stop NTF’s momentum. We may be sleeping on Jeffries. I’ve been impressed.”

8:40 p.m. update from TJ:

At least one Kentucky coach has been in attendance to watch the following recruits in action:

PSA Cardinals  (Anthony) vs. Houston Hoops (Maxey)

Nike Team Florida (Carey, Barnes, Farrakhan) vs. Bluff City Legends (Wiseman, Jeffries)

Seattle Rotary (Jaden McDaniels)

Indy Heat (Keion Brooks)

8:43 p.m. update from TJ:

UK’s coaches have gone missing! May have left

8:46 p.m. update from TJ:

Cal is back watching Keion Brooks

8:56 p.m. update from TJ:

Like Jaden McDaniels, Keion Brooks is also struggling.

Update from @TJWalkerKSR:

“Jaden McDaniels playing a little point. Scores to put away the other team with 45 seconds to play.”

Moments later scored to push it to seven.

McDaniels with the impressive iso, spin, and finish:

Some stats leaking out on major Wildcat targets:

James Wiseman had 23 points and nine rebounds in Bluff City’s 70-69 win over Nike Team Florida.

Vernon Carey Jr. finished with 23 points and ten rebounds in the loss.

We’ll be back tomorrow with more from Peach Jam.

Jefferies seems to be a glue guy type player. Does everything well nothing great, plus it doesnt hurt to have someone on wiseman team. Carey looks to be more athletic than i thought.
