Orlando Antigua’s Program is Under NCAA Investigation

antigua usfcoacho

John Calipari’s former assistant coach, Orlando Antigua, is facing an NCAA investigation.

According to Jeff Goodman, the investigation into academic fraud revolves around Orlando’s brother, USF assistant coach Oliver Antigua.  During the ongoing investigation, Oliver has not been permitted to recruit on the road.

Orlando Antigua was John Calipari’s assistant for six years, spending one year at Memphis before following Cal to Kentucky for five years.  Since he was hired by USF in 2014, the Bulls have only won 16 games compared to 47 losses, including a 84-63 loss to the Cats in Miami last November.

UPDATE (3:30)

Jeff Goodman reports that Oliver Antigua has resigned from his position as assistant coach.

I guess this will give the NCAA a reason to look in on Cal now.

With real people logic – not unless Oliver Antigua also worked on Cal’s staff.

With NCAA logic – it’s a guy who knows a guy who was an extra in a movie with a guy who knows Kevin Bacon so UK is under investigation.

Regardless, you can probably forget Orlando ever being the HC at UK even if he does turn that program around.

No bueno. I hope it doesn’t also involve a former Cat’s younger brother just for all their sake.

Refresh my memory on who that would be

Get the same lawyer North Carolina used.

This. The NCAA is so mad at UNC that they’re gonna drop 10 hammers on USF.

Here ye; hear ye. UNC sucks….a plethora of Johnson; greases a ton of A Holes; and has continuously slept with the commish/chair’person’ ad infinitum. It has evolved into a running joke. Forget the bigs; schmack down the small schools. Nonetheless, this does not look good.

USF needs to tell the NCAA they have no authority over academic fraud. They proved that with the UNCheat case. There is nothing to see here. I am sure Orlando’s brother did NOTHING that UNCheat hasn’t been doing since Dean E. Smith drew up the plans for UNCheat ‘s fraud program.

    Don’t budge an inch USF

Great coaching, cheat to get/keep players and still go 16-47. Hate to see the record without those players.
