Kevin Knox Makes Naismith Trophy Watch List

Kevin Knox is one of 30 finalists to make the cut for the late-season watch list for the Naismith Trophy, given each year to college basketball’s best player.

The small forward has scored more than 20 points in six games this season and is averaging 15 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. ┬áThe freshman is also a finalist for the Julius Erving Award and the Lute Olson Award’s All-American Team.

Kentucky will face two other finalists this week, Auburn’s Bryce Brown and Alabama’s Colin Sexton. ┬áThe list will be cut ten on February 28 and the winner will be announced during the Final Four.

The kid has a bright future and is the youngest player on the youngest team but come on, there is no way he has performed like a top 30 player. He is a very good finisher on drives and has excellent athleticism but his jump shooting is average and offense is the only part of his game that is developed as he is especially lacking defensively. He has great potential but there might be 30 players in the SEC playing better than him right now.
