Kentucky is a road favorite at Alabama

For those of you who like to dabble in some harmless wagering on amateur athletics, specifically in the sport of men’s collegiate basketball, we now know the line on tomorrow’s Kentucky-Alabama game.

Kentucky opened up as a 4.5 point favorite out in the desert when the line went live late Friday afternoon. The total on the game opened at 146.5.

For what it’s worth, Kentucky has covered the spread in its last three games and in five of its last six after failing to cover in five of its first six games.

Go Cats.

The cats need to build on their current momentum and ascert themselves as an elite defensive team. Defensive and rebounding effort will allow the offense to fall in place. I like my team. In cal I trust. Let’s ball!!

I’m looking for these Cats’ 1st 20+ point victory over a quality opponent tomorrow. No disrespect to Bama. They’ve beaten KenPom top 80 teams and winning big on the road is always difficult.

I just felt like something other than the Cats’ opponent prevented them from getting a 20+ point lead in the last 2 games. They seemed to not know how to put them away. It’s time for Cal to start pushing these guys to put games away early and take home court out of the picture when on the road.

That’s the way to make a statement win over lower ranked SEC teams on the road. It should help them break into the top 8 of polls and advanced analytical systems before the tough late January games.

It will take more scoring production from outside the arc and midrange. It will also take more bench scoring. Finally, it will require the entire team to keep their foot on the gas once they get a 10-15 point lead. I’m bullish on the Cats now and think it’s time for them to realize their potential by taking it to the next level. Go Big Blue!

Don’t get me wrong. I’ll be sufficiently happy with a simple road win. I want them to start getting closer to their potential and put college basketball on notice that, despite the early returns, they’re as much to be reckoned with as the 2011-12 and 2013-14 teams. I want all of the non-starters to become a “second platoon” as much as possible.

Couldn’t agree more. This team has quite literally endless potential…it’s just a matter of if and when they realize that potential.

Aar, even though this is after the fact. Your assessment was very good and we should’ve done exactly that. These up and down moments happen to young teams and no one knows it more than cat fans. Lol. That said, I think we’re so much better that what we showed today, but we’re going to be ok if we’ll just get in the gym and start working hard. Thanks bud. Man I sure wish we could’ve pulled that one out, but it did show a lot about the team, making a comeback an all. Later.
